Which Melee 99 first?

Hey there,

I'm not definatly sure I will go for it yet but I am strongly considering going for a melee 99 and I do not know which to go for.

1 friend thinks that I should go for attack, because it means I'll hit higher more often, making it faster to train the others.

1 friend thinks that I should go for strength, because I could hit a higher max hit, making it faster to train the others.

1 friend thinks that I should go for defence, because I'd get hit less making it cheaper to train the others, and it's the best looking of the capes.

Which do you people think I should go for?

Strength -> Attack -> Defence.

I had a piece of grass on my shoe, and she wiped that off. Yeah. Impressive, eh? That's probably the closest I've ever been to having sex. :P

If you have a good means to train strength (Sara sword or Godsword), I would do that first. My logic being, when you need to use a one-handed weapon (dragons, for example), you can train attack or defense with the whip. If you're stuck with 99 attack and defense and not strength, it'll be really awkward and annoying when you're using a whip, not being able to train the right combat stat.

If you don't have a good strength training weapon, though, this logic is moot, as you could use a dragon scimitar anywhere you'd use a whip.

In my opinion, it depends on what activities you plan on doing.

If you're going to do a lot of boss hunting, you'd probably want higher defence so that you can tank and last longer with a team of rangers.

For PvP (i.e Bounty Hunter, Clan Wars, FoG) you may want higher attack and strength to hit more often.

It all comes down to what you want to do with the melee skill.

I'd personally aim for hp, since after that the others will be a breeze and you'll have a bit of a head start.

Do not go for 99 strength. Mistake I made. It's not worth it compared to attack or defence.

Obviously, I won't choose for you which skill you should work on.

But my suggestion is defense. It will seriously be helpful and you'll last longer than having a low defense!

Great for those high level bosses!

This will come from the standpoint of a monster hunter :) The order is different depending on what you do. For example, if you're a pker you may want to go in the OPPOSITE order. But whatever this is what I would do because I'm a monsterhunter. :P

First: Defence, by FAR the most useful out of all 3, and it's useful for all 3 combat types.

Second: Attack, bosses have high defence and being able to consistently hit, even if you're max hit isn't extremly high, is incredibly helpful and very good for all bosses.

Third: Strength. Well, you hit higher, big woop. Lol. But why waste exp on att/str when you could get str levels? Besides, it's not like higher hits don't help.

But... yeah, I guess. But for a person who's just training, the whip is the best weapon, and cannot train str. Just train controlled. It doesn't make training slower, unless you need the stats now.
