ultimatballr
Okay well I am helping a friend determine whether or not he should stick with monks for 99 cooking or go with sharks. Currently he is 94 (so he won't burn any sharks) and you lost 170k per 1k sharks. So he need to be able to make 170k/hour (minimum) I was curious as to whether Aviansies still got you 170k+ per hour (they use to be 250k+) and will the non-prayer method get that 170k+ per hour?. Tanning hides, still a viable way to make money? (I know there were tons and tons of people doing this previously so the method could be dead nowadays.) What are some other ways to get 170k+ an hour that isn't boss hunting? Apparently, my signature was to big.

What are some other ways to get 170k+ an hour that isn't boss hunting? Your math is far too simplified, it's not accurate. You have to factor in the amount lost with monks, and the xp difference. The accepted number is 100k/hour. So if you can make over that, stick with sharks. All the methods you stated should be able to make 100+k an hour. I would just stick with boss hunting, but Aviansies should work fine. Barrowing and dragons should work too. D Jay99
Even mining pure essence would get him close to 170k/hour. Aviansies are ~300k/hour for me. Collecting seconds for herblore is over 200k/hour usually. Crafting deaths or laws should be over 170k/hour. Hunting swamp lizards. Mining 500g granite. Also, I don't really get where you get the 170k/hour figure. Don't you lose money by cooking monks?
ultimatballr
Soo since its 20k sharks for 99 and 29k monks for 99. 70 gp loss per monk and 170 gp loss per shark. Resulting in a 2.03m loss with monks through 29 hours of cooking compared to 3.4m loss with sharks through 20 hours of cooking. Thats 1.37m difference for 9 hours difference in work. So he need to be able to make 1.37m in 9 hours or 152k per hour. Would I be correct in assuming this? Apparently, my signature was to big.

green9090
Yes, if you factored in that you still burn monkfish even that higher levels. I don't know where this dribble comes from. You stop burning monks at around 92. If not, ignore that post. :-#

I'm not sure about the exact level, except that it's before 98. Somebody started telling people you burn monks at 99 a while back, people believed him, and now a ton of people with nowhere near 99 cooking will assure you that it's true. It's ridiculous. Inuashakent
Actually, you never stop burning them, even at 99 and cooking gloves (which has 0 effect on monks). You just burn them VERY rarely. I dunno I took a rough guess and he said yes 1k an hour. Remember its not me cooking. I could careless about 99 cooking. All this is for a friend of mine who has recently come back into RS. Inuashakent
290k xp is possible, and sharks are 210 xp each. So around 1.4k/hour. It's less than 152k/hour. More like 100-110k/hour+ should be sharks. [Summoning guide (AOW)] [Slayer guide] [Melee & Brawl player]
nechryael
Well Gren dragon hunting is about 180k-300k an hour. With 70 prayer and 75 range I was managing about 350k-450k an hour at aviansie and I was getting really lucky with the clues making about 2m for a 2-3 hour trip depending on when i left. IeatWindex
Just collect Snape grass, which goes under Herblore secondary ingredients. 390 each, very easy to get. It's how I got from nothing at all to a whip :D
