Guthans- Buy now or wait?

So, I have about 6.5 mil from sleling random junk in my bank (yay! \) and I wanted to buy a full set of Guthans to help with my Slayer, and other things. I know the price is currently dropping like a rock, so I was wondering wheather or not to buy it now, or wait. There are pros and cons to both of em. If I wait, the price of the set would be lower, but there would most likely be less people selling the set, in hopes that the price will rise again. So what should I do?

I would wait about a week and watch the prices since it is dropping a lot. If it does start to rise buy it, wait for it to stop rising, sell it, and buy it again when its low.

Personally I would say buy it now.. no worries on losing a couple mil on the price as hopefully it will help you generate more money through slayer. I have accumulated about 3-4m since I bought my guthans when it was either 7m or 9m (I bought and sold guthan sets so many times I forget, I use to merchant barrows armors prior to G.E.)

 

 

 

It is a good investment and though once you get 68 summoning it may become obsolete it still has its purposes.

 

 

 

When I have questions like this I usually avoid the possibility of losing money on a price drop and worry more about what I can use it for to turn a profit in my favor.

I have both bunyip+SGS, but I still use guthans. At places like DKs and tanking for Bandos, this is really helpful =)

 

 

 

Generally, bunyip+SGS can get me through all tasks, except hellhounds probably. I've gotten unlucky once, was down at 43 hp because they deal dmg faster than bunyip can heal, and spec'd double 0s with SGS. I used my Guth there to heal off to full ^^ or else I woulda been dead/ROL'd/sitting there waiting for bunyip to heal me =p

 

 

 

Bu yeah, generally, bunyip itself can get me through alot of things without SGS even. Back before I had SGS, when I was whipping tasks, bunyip kept me alive @ like fire giants without the help of guthans.

 

 

 

 

 

If I were you, I'd buy it, because I'm a stackable/non-inventory-intrusive HP obsessive person lol. I love using bunyip with SGS and guthans, though I rarely have to turn to guth. I'm imagining once I hit 88 summon I can get crazy amounts of healing at DKs and Bandos =)

Actually when I got 68 it cost me more than the 8ish m that guthans was worth at the time...but then again bot are cheaper now...

 

 

 

 

 

Back on topic, buy it now. Even if it continues to drop you honestly won't be losing much, it's already dirt cheap(The spear is under 3m at minimum price :shock: ), so your best bet would probably be to get it now while you can get the fulll set at minimum price.

Bunyips are OK for tiding you over but I always bring Guthans just to be totally safe. Some monsters hit hard, even through high armour, and if they get 3 lucky hits in your under 50% health and struggling.

 

 

 

My method is wearing Guthans plate/skirt as standard and then subbing in Spear/Helm if I need to heal. This way it's only 2 inventory spaces. I use a Bunyip as it saves using Guthans, which compared to whip/defender is slow.

 

 

 

Bunyips are about 1.8k on the GE. Buy them instead of making them if you're worried about the cost/time element.

 

 

 

Each slayer task usually nets me at least 20k which is more than enough for the 2 Bunyips and the little damage to Guthans.

 

 

 

I don't have a SGS yet. Probably won't bother with one tbh.

Well, as I was deciding, the price of a set started to rise again, so I made a snap decision and bought. got it for 4.75m, and from the looks of it, that value is gonna go up. thank you to everyone who answered.

It's definately worth it if you can afford one, I used to wear guthans with the hat and spear in my inventory like you do, but since I bought the sword I've switched to using veracs top/bottom(for piety flashing or the 5% ones) and I've been taking guthans along in mt pack as a backup. So far I haven't needed to use it with a bunyip out on stronger melee tasks(I still need to get a gargoyle task but I made it through nechs with my HP in the green), and you can even go without a bunyip on a few multi combat ones without a bunyip(I haven't tested at fire giants yet, but I'm betting you will still need guthans or a bunyip, dusties are good though).

 

 

 

EDIT: On topic, if you bough when I suggested you would've saved 50k(hooray for being able to say "I told you so") not taunting or anything, just sayin lol, and gratsi on getting guthans. It's pretty much the best thing that you could buy.
