F2p iron smelting

Featured Replies

I'm currently working ok a f2p beginner diary with a low level account.

36 smithing is required so i did 15->31 smelting iron bars, first with the ores i mined, then with those i bought (all bars were to be sold).

So i started smelting in al kharid and had to face the impure thing that cause a lost on half the ores.

I started with smelting 28... to get 14- bars

I also did 10 to continue being under the half

I use ores by ores, it was almost ok but a real pain.

Per 5 was equal to 10...

Then i decided to use smelt x with a number over 2*28.... and i started to reduce my lost significantly.

Just let me know if you confirm...

Oh baby light the dark side...

What are you asking here? I am finding it difficult to decode...

My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.

I think hes trying to say that you get more iron bars back by typing in smelt 28 manually??

99 Strength Achieved 26/9/08. L0L in 3 years I've made 7m. In the past 2 days I've made 7.2m on top of that thanks to Bounty Hunter. So why play for 3 years when you can do that?

No what he is saying is that when he types in to smelt however many ores he has in his inventory he gets a 50% success rate. However If he types in say 200 even though he only has 28 his success rate increases. He is asking others to check to see if this is right.

Of course there is no need to check. There is no way that this change would give better results.

I believe it's always a 50% success rate, no matter what level or technique (don't get sucked into your own RuneScape superstition, as it may just be the luck of the game, and don't hold me to this, but I haven't noticed anything myself, and I use a Ring of Forging for iron anyways.)

Why not just buy coal, and get a 100% success rate with steel?

from 3-29 i did the quest "the knights sword" easy quest with some help

it may get better with high lvl smithing as in it wont always be 14 per 28

How many you lose to impurity is not affected by how many or how little you choose to smelt. I regularly hit the keys - 3 3 enter - choosing to smelt 33 items, since the 3 is the closest number to the enter key. You are not going to get 14 iron ores every time. Sometimes you will get more, sometimes you will get less.

That being said, I would heavily recommend the Knight's Sword Quest as soon as possible. THis should allow you to switch to steel smithing and avoid losing your resources with nothing to show for it.

i understand him... my advice:

never in f2p ever smelt iron bars. because it always comes out as about half. i i were u i would consider the quest that raises smithing. the knights sword one. another thing to consider is buying iron ore and coal at ge and smelting it into steel bars and selling that on ge. this will actually make u a good profit as well. happy smelting :)

First i thank those who try to read it in calm and understood my poor english (not my first language).

Now it was true i missed Knight's sword quest that put my noob over iron smelting... I did it and it's ok now.

The fact is i don't have superstitions or so but i still do think there is a sort of link !

either the random is done on each ore you smelt so... you can also turn from 0% to 100%

or the number you try to smelt is taken into consideration and it gives you a random rate arround 50%

i think there is something in the last solution because when i entered 56+ i got 14+ more often

when i used all or 28 i was almost was permanently under 14.

Oh baby light the dark side...

There is no connection. It is always 50%. And hopefuly you kept a copy of the blurite sword from the quest, as I regret dropping my second one.

26,974th person to get 85 mining on September 20th, 2008

Try Ferion, it only takes a few minutes per day; you can play it while mining.

It'd 50% all the time, just some dumb luck. (Not saying you're dumb) :twss:

Thoroughly retired, may still write now and again

listen. u r asking us for advice and we r giving it to u. in f2p it is never worth it to unless u r a member. try smelting something else. ur best option would be steel bars.
