Randox
Balance is achived at about 70% damage with double the ROF. Teh scimmy is more than 70% of the longsword damage (its 90%) so it does not need double speed to be more effective. I would say at its ROF, it is significantly stronger than the long sword. It has some penalties to accuracy though, so at the end of the day the weapons are actualy about equal. from experiance, the scimmitar is better, probably explaining why 96% of RS players choose the scim over long sword. Either your highly intelligent, or you just pulled out some random numbers. Could you explain where you got some of them? (oh, and it's spelled 'the', not 'teh'. That annoys me for some reason  ) Drops: 1x Draconic Visage, 56x Abyssal Whip, 5x Demon Head, D Drops: 37, Barrows Drops: 43, DK Drops: 29GWD drops: 14,000x Bars, 1x Armadyl Hilt, 2x Armadyl Skirt, 4x Sara Sword, 1x Saradomin Hilt, 8x Bandos Hilt, 8x Bandos Platebody, 9x Bandos Tassets, 4x Bandos Boots, 43x Godsword Shard, 82x Dragon BootsDry streak records: Saradomin 412 kills Bandos 988 kills Spirit Mages 633 kills - Slayer Sucks
Randox
I keep spelliing 'the' as 'teh' because my left hand can reach 'e' beofore my right hand gets to 'h'. I try to go back and get them all, it annoys me to. I did get the balance from another game. In all fairness I was tired and should not have used that as balance because SFCIII (starfleet command) seems to treat faster weaker weapons as slightly more powerful. I think statisticly, a weapon going faster with a little over half the maximum damage will average out to do more damage over time because a bad hit gets averaged out by a good hit relatively quickly. If you screw up with a 2h, b axe, or even longsword in pvp combat, you might allow you opponent to get away. If you screw up with a scimitar or a dagger (or whip), the weapon attacks again sooner hopefully rectifying the bad hit (though in my experiance a weapon cycles from good hits to bad then back again). For the 96%, it seemed like a fair value. Almost everyone who uses a d long does so because they hgave not done monlkey madness.

Ok, thanks for not getting mad when criticized, I hate people that flip out because you say they might be wrong :? I don't know if we can value numbers from different games, but the end result is quite simple - in both real world tests and mathematical comparisons, d scimmy carries the day, and depending on your click speed, can be better or worse then d long for switching to dd++ for a KO weapon. But since d scimmy can deal more damage per minute, it's kind of a moot point. SwimmyTheDuck
erm, I believe that the scimitar gives more xp/hour and its faster to boot, but i might be wrong.
yanksrule
You did this without actually testing it? Sounds like your mace and warhammer topic. OWNED i'd kill for one more hit. speed is everything, and if you wanted to make a stats>looks argument then bring up the dharok legs are better than tassets argument. that'd be fun. 289.1k [dharok] stab +85 slash+82 crush+83 mage-4 range+92 8.9m [tassets] stab+71 slash+63 crush+66 mage-4 range+93 oh yeah and it has a +2 str and +1 prayer (still not worth it IMO) Wow, watching this thread is better than pro wrestling! =D>This thread is probably better than pro wrestling because the fights here are real (And the boobs). Zaaps1
Pretty sure the scimmy is at least 3k xp/hour faster than the longsword. Speed is everything. I'd rather see: 10, 18, 23, 0, 13, 14 than: 12, 20, 24, 4. It's that much slower, and the race is over. ~It's Super Effective! JIM
I'm not a maths wizard by any stretch of the imagination but I think the increased speed of the Scimitar causes its DPS (Damage Per Second) to be higher than that of the Longsword. At a glance the Longsword does seem a more attractive option tho. #-o The stars are matter, we're matter, but it doesn't matter.-Don Van Vliet
Balazeal
Actually, I was curious, I ran a test. In F2P, I went to the SOS, and trained on level 50 Giant Spiders for 6 hours. 3 hours with a scimmy, and the other 3 with a longsword. I measered the exp I got each hour and found that the scimmy brought in about 3-4k more per hour than the longsword did. So, basically, scimmy wins, at least in F2P anyway. 100% F2P99 Defense, Tuesday February 10th 200999 Attack, Tuesday May 26th 200962,189th to get it
