I bought a Creative Zen 8 gigs a few months ago, and oneday, the LCD was busted. Now its got to a point where the screen is completley ruined, smashed, unviewable. Now it just sits there, because i cannot navigiate through the menus to select what i want. the wwarrinty is well passed. What can i do

Use it as a flashdrive?

Buy new MP3?

take it somewhere or send it back (for a good price) to get the screen replaced

or

use it as a flash drive as said

or

destroy it more and bin it

Can't you buy a replacement lcd screen from Creative Zen, or from somewhere else? It shouldn't be that hard to take it apart and replace.

It will be different of course cause a cell phone is a cell phone and a mp3 player is a mp3 player ;)

I've dismantled my ipod mini lots of times. Although it obviously won't be the same, what you should find is just taking off the shell and disconnecting terminals that connect things like the battery and screen to the logic board.

It shouldn't be too difficult, and if you search for one, there must be loads of tutorials on how to do it.

Repair Guides

That is if you want to do it yourself...The parts are about 80 bucks, including color screen and the disassembly kit (which usually doesn't come with the screen, so be careful).

It's actually rather easy to take them apart if you have the kit, most of the battle is just prying open the case, then its just unplugging some connectors, switching the screen, and plugging it back in....Kindof like adding RAM...Open case, lift holders, remove old, put in new, close holders, put case back together...

It's not racist if its true.
Hmm... I wonder how one goes about throwing someone out a window in a mystic fashion :-k

The mental image for that is freaking awesome.
