everhappy111
Frakking lawsuits. Last month, Elisabeth alerted you to the legal turmoil bubbling around Watchmen. Basically, 20th Century Fox used to have the rights, and claim they still have them, so they're trying to prevent Warner Brothers from releasing the eagerly awaited film. Warner Brothers, meanwhile, claims that Fox has sat silently until the film was set to go, knowing full well what was happening. Now The New York Times says that Warner is pushing for a trial date of April, with Fox pushing for June. Assuming that the film can't be released until this is cleared up, we might not only not get Watchmen in March, but also not in the summer of 2009. Will we have to wait until 2010? I don't want to think about it. There's a whole swarm of moviegoers peeved about the Harry Potter delay. I can't imagine what a year-long delay would do to Watchmen fiends. Where's Doctor Manhattan when you need him? Or a jail-storming Nite Owl and Silk Spectre? http://www.cinematical.com/2008/09/02/n ... d-to-2010/
indy500fan
That would suck, but most likely they will just settle with Warner Bros giving Fox some money and releasing it on time.

Nero
Fox and WB resolved it out of court already. It's coming out March 6th for sure. Vienna Raszyn Warsaw Klushino
1_man_army
I'm not too interested in seeing Watchmen (it just seems like a bit naff to me) but I find this whole situation fascinating. How could any company put $120 million into financing a film (which will rise with advertising before the release) and not have the rights completely sown up? You would think that Warner Bros. would have went through all the rights issues with a fine tooth comb before making such an investment. He who learns must suffer, and, even in our sleep, pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart, and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom to us by the awful grace of God. - Aeschylus (525 BC - 456 BC)

i_love_burritos
Trailer looks sick as hell. I really should buy the book this weekend. Yes, yes you should. Try to get the 1st edition. I've found some weird stuff in there, looking at different angles and magnification.
