Potion Hypocrisy - Are they Really for n00bs?

That's your opinion.
I'll just disregard your argument with those same three words, in fact, let's really make discussions fun by making anything anyone says pointless by saying it's their opinion and therefore entirely meaningless. Fantastic. It depends whether you're looking at it from a technical point of view or in a more real sense, admittedly it's impossible to decide which one is best and elements of both are always present in the optimal outcome but I try to look at this sort of question from the 'real' sense.

I like seeing 4 F2Ps on me at clan wars saying 'omg 24' all at the same time. Makes me chuckle. I support potions.

Matt: You want that eh? You want everything good for you. You want everything that's--falls off garbage can

Camera guy: Whoa, haha, are you okay dude?

Matt: You want anything funny that happens, don't you?

Camera guy: still laughing

Matt: You want the funny shit that happens here and there, you think it comes out of your [bleep]ing [wagon] pushes garbage can down, don't you? You think it's funny? It comes out of here! running towards Camera guy

Camera guy: runs away still laughing

Matt: You think the funny comes out of your mother[bleep]ing creativity? Comes out of Satan, mother[bleep]er! nn--ngh! pushes Camera guy down

Camera guy: Hoooholy [bleep]!

Matt: FUNNY ISN'T REAL! FUNNY ISN'T REAL!

I see no point in the duel arena unless you are obsessed with winning. It's a waste of cash imo, since pots are pretty expensive if you use it every round. 3 rounds is a potion, unless you use 4 dose, but all the same. I don't use em, but I don't care if someone uses it, cause if they have to use it against me, they are bad.

the simple solution for those who dont like pots, food, or prayer in the dual arena:

das.jpg

but i suport using all of those, if they are in the game why not use them? i have the quest cape and have fought the strongest monsters in the game( corpral beast, the dream mentor bosses, KQ, ect.) and pots, food, and prayer is as just as required as skill is.

Okay, to start this off, I use pots. I am not ashamed to say it, and I'm not ashamed to do so.

Why the devil should I be ashamed of using potions in the duel arena?

Because someone that DOESN'T use them calls me a "n00b" or a "potter"?

Because as soon as they're being used on you, they're the most evil thing that JaGex ever developed? That Dharoks isn't at least five times cheaper?!

Really, it disgusts me. Yes, I use potions in the duel arena. OMIGAWD! No, but really, I don't see what the big deal is.

All I do is swing my Dragon Battleaxe around and say "Rargh," drink a potion, put on Piety, and pull out my scimitar.

What is so evil about doing that? Am I commiting a warcrime? Am I abusing a feeble old woman? Am I drowning puppies?

Honestly, it's just a strategy to improve chances of winning, not something that you should call someone a noob for. And if you didn't want to fight someone using potions, then turn off the drink option. #-o The brain hurts, doesn't it?

Now, on to the hypocrisy. I'm sure we've all fought something that was difficult to beat. ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE A QUESTER.

I am, as was said, a quester. I love 'em, and I praise Tip.It for the excellent guides that they give. But I digress.

Now, I've fought strong monsters, and maybe you have too. CONTAAAAACT!!! :wall:

But yeah. Lets take a look here. We have monsters such as Kamil, Fareed, Dessous, and Damis. Also, their foodlike counterparts. There was the Sea Troll Queen, The Inadequacy, Barrelchest, and other Quest monsters.

Was it shameful to use food and potions against them?

And then we come to the "Awe" monsters. KQ, KBD, Steel Dragons, Jad, K'ril Tsutsaroth, General Graardor, Commander Ziliyana, Kree'arra, and our most recent and, most likely the cruelest, addition, the fearsome... CORPOREAL BEAST! :o

Now who in there right mind says it's nooby to use pots against these things? I mean, maybe the KBD doesn't pose as great a threat as he did in the past, (No offense, KBD, I still avoid you :ohnoes: ) but that doesn't stop people from using Super Sets and antipoisons when fighting him. The same applies to our beetle-like mistress, the KQ. Yeah, now we have Veracs, but that's not stopping us from using potions. And potions are absolutely necessary when fighting GWD bosses, Tz-Tok Jad, and the mighty Corporeal one.

I simply do not see why potions are considered nooby. I bet there'd be a lot less Dragon Chains and Full Helms floating around if people couldn't use potions. I'll bet that we wouldn't see nearly as many Fire Capes. I'd wager that a lot of the items we've come to know and love would be just dreamers objects. So what makes it bad for people to use pots? Because they're using it against you? Consider this: The GWD Bosses with Pots. Jad using pots. MR. CORPOREAL USING POTS!

The fact is, they're simply part of victory strategies. Just because someone uses a super strength potion against you, or goes on a rampage with their Dragon Battleaxe and then calm down with some harralander and spider eggs in a vial, doesn't mean that they are noobs. Why should they be insulted for wanting to win? Yeah, it's not pleasant to lose. It's even less pleasant when you know you wasted a potion in the effort! :? But that doesn't mean that you have the right to call someone a "fr00bkake" for taking a sip of something that probably doesn't taste that good.

I guess what it boils down to is a person's opinion. Some people don't mind using pots, some think that people who use them are weak. I personally think that they are an effective way to secure a victory, but I often find it at the cost of being insulted and finding the victory somewhat less appealing. Maybe that's what the aim is, to make the victory less satisfying. But honestly, if you're going to complain about people using pots, maybe you should just turn off the option to drink.

First, your attempt to create irony just looks [developmentally delayed]ed. Nobody is claiming you're killing puppies, ok? If you're trying to sound like a writer, you failed.

Second, please tell me you're aren't so dense that you honestly believe that when calls you a "pot nub", they're telling you to tank Sara GWD without prayer. [developmentally delayed]. Nobody gives a flying [cabbage] about how you use prayer pots at black demons.

What people don't like about potting is how you are so desperate for "success" in the duel arena that you're pulling pots, while at the same time doing nothing but proving that you don't have the skill or levels required to take down your opponent, so you have to play cheap, doing something you're pretty sure your opponent won't be doing, just for a chance to win.

I mean, seriously. Sure it's not against the rules. That doesn't mean it's not cheap, and that doesn't mean it makes you look skilled. You look like a [bleep]ing gimp when you have to play underhanded just so you stand a chance. And when the only reason to visit the duel arena anymore is to fool around and see if you're the best, you're just proving to everybody else that you suck.

I don't use potions in Clan Wars or the Duel Arena. Why? Because if I win, I get nothing, save the satisfaction of having beaten someone.

I don't care if someone uses a potion in the middle of a duel either. Fine, I lose nothing if I lose a free duel, and you have decided to go waste money to win something for the sake of pride.

Over-competitive person thou art? I don't care.

But I agree though, if you really DON'T want other people potting, just turn off potions. One click, how hard is that? Other person refuses? Don't duel then.

And when the only reason to visit the duel arena anymore is to fool around and see if you're the best, you're just proving to everybody else that you suck.

So you put it under automatic assumption that I'm trying to sound like a writer AND that I'm developmentally delayed? Look, if either of us here is a "gimp," it's you for flaming me right off the bat.

Second, I'm not saying that someone automatically expects me to tank any of the GWD bosses without prayer, I'm saying that it's ridiculous how people automatically assume that every fight is going to be fair. JaGex put potions in the game, so by god I will use them. And by the by, I haven't used prayer pots in a year.

Next, you say that I'm desperate for success. How about this, you're so desperate for attention and to make up for a lack of [cabbage], that you go and flame someone who is simply ranting about what irks them?

Here's a little phrase for you: Assumptions make an [cabbage] out of you and me.

I mean seriously. It's not against the rules, so why the freaking hell are you bashing me for trying to post a thread that is simply there to rant a little. I don't care that I don't look skilled, but what right does that give you to call me a "gimp" if I'm just trying to use something that is in the game. I don't go to the arena to prove I'm the best, I go there randomly. I don't see what irked you so flipping much that you have to go and say that "you're just proving to everybody that you suck".

I don't recall ever doing anything to you, so how about you read this message, and stay the hell off of this thread. The fact is, I'm not interested in being flamed over putting out my opinions. If people think I pot to make myself look strong, that's their problem, but I haven't heard anyone saying that to me.

So listen, why don't you take your anger and insecurity and post it on your own thread, or maybe you can go [cabbage] off to some RS videos of people being "Fair" and dueling each other, how about that?

If you want to post whatever you want without getting responses, open a blog. Don't post on public boards then expect that every person here is going to mindlessly agree with you. Sure, a lot of tipiters may simply post different variations on the generic "oh I agree, you can do whatever you want, u just ran into an idiot" line, but not everybody.

And maybe you weren't trying to sound like a writer. But whatever you were trying to sound like, you missed the mark. That was some seriously lame and misplaced irony.

don't go to the arena to prove I'm the best, I go there randomly. I don't see what irked you so flipping much that you have to go and say that "you're just proving to everybody that you suck".

You go there randomly for what reason? Like you said in your original post, nobody likes to lose. You go there for some fun, random competition. And competition is what? Trying to prove you're better than the other person. That's the root. That's the reason why nobody likes to lose. When you enter a situation like that, knowing full well that potting is rare and odds are your opponent isn't going to be using them, you're just looking for an unfair advantage over your opponent because somehow you can't face the fact that you're going to lose duels.

I don't see how you can describe that in any way other than lame.

Oh, and if anybody's insecurities are showing, it's the person that has such a thin layer of skin that they can't handle mild flames that they knew they were going to get the second they tried to beat someone else by unfair advantages.

It's like this game my half brother plays. When two people duel in that game, it's expected that you're going to be fighting based on skill, using buffs your character can grant itself. But it's easy to tell who the skilless scrubs are. They're the people that level 5 other characters and get 4 or so other friends online to buff them. Instead of being a fight where the best man wins, it becomes nothing more than a battle of the buffs, who has the most friends and alts buffing them. And that's EXACTLY what you're doing here. Instead of a fight where the person with the most skill and the best build wins, it's just who happened to have a superset in their inventory at the time.

Like I said, I just can't see any way you can describe that other than lame.
