is the sword suppose to be a dragon long? looks weird. too short for one thing.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

and is the uh.....northern..arm of the dead guy have its armour broken off?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

but overall i love how you design the armour and hilts of swords and stuff.

And no GRADIENT used. All pixels coloured one by one.

 

 

 

I don't like the sprite effect that ditering gives to sigs. Using 4-5 colors + dithering should be faster and quicker than shading my way, maybe using 10-20 different colors on a surface (at least for the way i'm used to work).

 

 

 

Pillow shading was very offensive...

 

 

 

About gradient...Just think outside the box sometimes. Every1 has his own style. Should MrX's sigs be bad since he never changed his black borders and never went into AAs ? I think his sigs work great the way he makes them. And he doesn't follow the typical "pixel" tecnique at all (as i, obviously, don't myself). I don't like the crispy , sprity look that dither gives to sig. I don't see dots in real life. You will not see dots in my sigs (at least in shading). Take it or leave i'd say. All the above has to be read in a veeeeeery light way, since i know you'r a fine person...it's just that i had to say mine about such a HUUUUGE sting :P

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

About the guy just above Venomai, i think he probably didn't like the "gore" aspect of the sig. Thx Godslayer for the support but i think (or hope?) he didn't mean to be as moron as his sentence, read on a different light, might suggest :wink:

Whee, someone agrees with me! Dithering, be it handmade or computer generated is the plague of the universe.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I tend not to post too often and typically would let this kind of WIPs go by until the final piece, but this is just too good and you are not getting the feedback it deserves. That is ultra-frigging-credible! The detail on the dragon plate just totally blows me away. The blade is not like in rune? Who cares? Do you actually think every sword made would look identical? It's a game...they have to simplify things.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It's pretty much your best so far. Never seen such detail even by you. GJ.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

PS sorry....I keep opening the image over and over...eating your bandwith.

On a side note I took a look at your Deviant art page and I noticed I saw a sig some other guy was saying he created on this forum :s.

And no lol why do you always want to get stuff from John Lewis. Its over ̣̉300 more then than what i paid.

 

John Lewis is a great, great shop.

Well, I'm not saying you actually used gradients, but since your shades look so close together, its giving the imitation of a gradient.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

On a closer look, I can see all the shades you used, and where the irregularities are in the skin and armour, but at a regular view the arms and face look too smooth and cylindrical to be those of a humans.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Here is an exaggerated example of what I mean. On the top box, the shades are much different from each other, enough to define the irregularities in the shape.

On the second, the shades are so similar that it imitates a gradient-look. Its hard to tell there are even different shades in the second one, unless you zoom in.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

But don't get me wrong, this is a great sig, AMAZING details, AMAZING textures/patterns, and the smooth-style shading fits great with armours. The linework is superb and I can't wait for the final piece. The only major flaw in it is the shading style on the face and arms, it doesn't seem to be matching with how light would actually affect it (unless you zoomed in, then it becomes more clear ;)).

On the update - the legs on the alive guy are HORRIBLE, the shading on them stinks, there's only one color (white), and the legs lineart looks like you spent 2 seconds on them. JK.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Really, the sig is still looking great so far, great texturing/shading at same time (tough to do), proportions all good, still waiting for final sig. :x

Back to the sig.. Looking pretty damn good right now. I really love the boots/legs the dragon guy is wearing.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Don't really like his face/hair, but hey, that's just a minor thing..
