What is a better way to do dslayer? Mage at lvl 41 with full combat robes or melee at lvl 40 for atk, str and def with full rune besides the platebody.

It's been a while, but I'd say melee - Elvarg's firebreath only hurts a max of five, and if you mage her claws will rip you to shreds.

I think that Magic might be the better way to go, as you can hit higher and more Frequently. Then again, that is just a guess, as I have never done it as a Mage.

Actually, it hits ten, and it no longer uses her claws.

Ok just to clarify this, i tried it as mage twice, very inaccurate. And yes elvarg still uses her claws.

Really! When I did it at the beginning of the year, she only used her Fire Breath.

 

Also, if you know yourself that magic attacks are inaccurate, then why ask? :|

Elvarg = Dragon = Dragonhide = Epic Mage Defence = Lower Melee Defence = Answer = Melee.

Melee should work out well at those stats, since I did it in mith (with a mith short sword) with no stats higher than 30 and cakes for food. That was like 3 years ago though, so it might have changed.

I remember mining coal for a month to save up enough cash to buy a rune full helm, rune chain, rune kite, and rune battleaxe, then I got impatient and just bought mith legs instead of saving for rune. I took a full load of lobsters, a strength potion, and I was level 55 I believe.

Go with melee. She's easy.

Your biggest problems are gonna be from her melee attack. Bring rune.

I look at the weird advises you get from some here lol. Elvarg is a DRAGON. I wouldnt go near her with METAL armour, Rune kite (shakes head in disbelief) or a 2h weapon.

 

 

 

She uses her firebreath so bring a antifire shield (if you are p2p also bring a antifire pot), so something that protects against firebreaths would be best, and metal armor is NOT good against dragons, at all. D'hide armour is the way to go. You can safely range or mage her from one of the pillars wich you can hide behind if you need to eat. A friend did the quest at lvl 41 magic and wind blasted the drag very fast. Didnt use any food at all [edit: she tells me she ate 2 lobs). She wore d'hide armour, antifire shield, 1 antifire pot, rest with food and tele.

I remember being lvl 48, melee based, and only bringing Full Steel because I was afraid of losing anything if I died. I believe i was using an Adamant longsword. I actually did die once, when I learned that just because wine is cheap and heals 11 it is not really a good thing to use for food against a boss.

 

 

 

I went ahead and spent the money for 10-15 lobsters and on my second try I defeated her.

I did D-slayer when i was still a Lvl 45 STR/ATK pure..... Just wore Iron armour, rune scimy and took lobster for food. Had no trouble killing him and had a few lobbies to spare. Mage would be bad against a dragon, range is a good option if youve got 50+ ranged.
