What to train?

Hello,

I just started a pk-er, and I trained it to 43 mage, nothing else. I plan to get 60 magic and like 40 defence. I got a couple of questions as I don't have many experience with pk-ing.

- What should I train other? Range? Strenght for 2h? Or just pure Magic?

- What (f2p) skill is good for money if I ran out? Woodcutting Yews when 70, or mining, or fishing?

Thank you in advance.

Fishing would make most money, especially with these new updates.

Getting 40 def would ALMOST KILL YOU AS A MAGE, unless you plan to incorporte heavy mnage boosting armor with like ONE rune armour piece. Tanker rangers are more common.

Mage/2h is a popular choice. OF course train it! If you want the extra HP then add range too.

Hello,

-40 def is pointless with mage because def or no def you will get owned.

just pure magic is completely horrible for f2p. Yes, you can max at 16's and yes you do have that mage spell. You can bind, but people just throw in dhide and those 16's become 12's and hit less often. magic is also the speed of a longsword, so its not terribly great.

if you are 1 def, i would say the most fun is being mage/range. Its really fun to get high range and you can hit rapid 18's if you get 99 with the pray. That is good to ko with and its the fastest f2p weapon. You can use mage in conjuction like FB a full runer, binds, teles, etc.

But the best possible combinations in f2p are just plain str pures, and the range 2h pure. I am more of a fan of the str pures because they are easier to train and i dont like keeping track of arrows. But range pures are really good if you have the time to reach like 85 range 80 str.

Yews are the best. Yews are 415-450 a log so they are pretty good. Minus the autoers there arent too many people usually i guess. Mining would be good if you were planning on just getting like under 60 in a money skill. Coal is like 150 ea so its not too bad but since lobs are like 350 ea it kinda blows. Fishing takes long and you have to go via karamja, so i would avoid that. Id only do that if you liked it and wanted to raise cook/fish and not have to pay for lobs.

Thank you in advance.

your welcome

honestly, dont bother that much with mage. make pure str and 40 attack with range. 40 atk 60 str 60ish range is a great pker, prayer is optional imo. then if you can, get 70 str and range.
