So if I buy a card and someone has already taken the PIN number, (by writing it down on something and shelving the card) can it be already activated? That would mean I just wasted some money.

I would take a guess the code is behind some kind of security seal, a tag or some kind of plastic. Look if its been tampered with before you buy.

I think you have to scratch of the stuff that covers the code (like a scratchcard) before you can see the code.

Maybe they keep the card's behind the counter, because in Australia Prepaid Mobile Phone cards are kept behind the counter to prevent stolen codes.

The codes aren't activated until the card is bought at the register. I don't know how this is accomplished... but it prevents guessing codes for free membership. That's how itunes cards work anyways, (it says so on the back in small print).

not to steal the thread or anything, but when i went to target to get one today i could not find them :x. does anyone have any idea of which section of the store they would be by? i cheacked the toy section, the shelves by the cheack outs, and the electronics section. are they hiding them from us? lol :o

I hear all 7/11 stores have them.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And i think the Pre-paid cards are like gift cards, where they have to swipe it to activate it at the register.
