Featured Replies

Well i asked about it in Tech, but they said it was a glitch or somehing with the forums, so now i've come here :D

That's the problem. I'm using FF3.

is it possible to stop this from occuring? It's kinda getting in the way and extending the reply interface loads, as well as making the box to type in smaller.

thanks.

I'd try switching to a different skin, see if it fixes the problem.

nope, i just switched to default, and the problem is still there. Going back to my previous one now.

From what i can gather, it's more to do with the forum than add-ons/plugins messing up my browser.

It's a problem with the forum not your browser or skin choice. It's an issue I've been trying to have fixed for quite some time now. There's some server side issue where the images directory can't be seen even though it does exist.

Tried changing the permission for the images directory? And would you happen to know what file the font pallet is in all the PhpBB3 files?

Could this be what is also affecting the 'PM Inbox Flags' and making them disappear? :-s

Of course, it's not a permissions issue, and it's not a normal 404 error either if you look at images and thisisnotarealaddress for comparison, and if it was a permissions error, it would be a 403 Forbidden. The images directory is being directed elsewhere by something on the server that I cannot access, I need our server admin to look into this.

And yes, it's exactly what is affecting the PM icons and yes I have been trying to have it fixed since your post about them, DVD.

Okay, cool. Thank you for answering that, as I can now see an image of what's going on in my mind. Good luck on getting it fixed.

I have done a quick fix on this by temporarily changing the image directory, this has also fixed the PM icons. You may need to do a hard refresh to see the change though as your browser will probably cache the changed JScript file (Ctrl+F5 should do).

I think he means it as he says... Which means that he will eventually manage to re-unify it with the original images directory at some point, although that may take Silverion's help. :geek:

BTW, I just checked the Inbox front page... There is still a problem. Friend/Foe/Reply colored markers are still not displaying next to message subject lines. (BTW, using both FF 1.5 and 2.0 here, and unable to check with other browsers due to a short-minded system admin.) But, as you said, the PM icons and color coding have been repaired. Call me mad, but it might be an idea to just leave the temporary directory that way, simply to make it easier to manage those functions. And possibly bring whatever you need to fix the item that I'm still seeing to there.

It actually wouldn't be easier to use the temporary directory at all because a lot of the images that aren't working are non-configurable. phpBB expects the images/ directory to be there for some of its base images, and only certain items such as ranks, smilies, post icons are configurable. Other images require manual editing of the templates to stop it using the images/ directory and I'm not going to go through every template file and change the images directory. And it's not Silverion who needs to look into this. :P

LOL  ... Call me crazy, for I thought that some of the server permissions were only changeable by Silverion himself.

I don't think any non forum staff member is blamable for not knowing that kind of thing, really.
Maybe... Although I do try to listen in on the threads in here, if possible, so I can at least attempt (even if I fail miserably because I missed something ... #-o ...) to understand the Tip.It Staff hierarchy, as well as what limits there is in the site structures. :-w :anxious:
