Spirit Shield Vs Obsidian Shield at Saradomin/Armadyl boss

As you can see, both has stats that say they are good. But i can't decide which one is best. I got a feeling Obsidian is though. But i wanna hear what you guys think.

I really can't tell you since I have never been to saradomin but if you have been there, are you being hit kinda hard and barly lasting. But if you last a long time and the take the spirit shield.

I would say spirit sheild, better off to have a higher ranged attack bonus to get accurate hits. The boss hits to high for the +20 def bonus to make much of a diff

If price isn't a problem just get a Divine or Elysian Spirit Shield, or a Dragonfire Shield for that matter. Why choose between the normal Spirit Shield or Toktz-Ket-Xil if you have enough money for the best stuff?

You all forget 1 thing: spirit shield weights 0-1 kg! - THAT'S really a plus point! - especially when you want to run a lot.. so I would say spirit shield: if you get within melee defense won't help you anyways!

I quite clearly said that if you don't have a BSS, use the Obsidian. I meant that Spirit shield isn't the good alternative, BSS is.

As for everyone else: i can easily choose a shield. But what i forgot to ask for is good arguments for why one shield is better than other and detailed answers.

It's easy to say what one is best. But hard to describe why it is. So please describe.

 

 

 

I guess, i gotta relay on my own skills to figure this one out maybe.

 

 

 

There is bree (hard hitter), starlight other than boss who will damage you. So don't think boss is only one.

I am guessing "Other shield" is spirit. But your argument about defense makes sense. I have noticed that having good offence (Spirit shield: 0 negative range attack bonus) isn't always good.

 

 

 

Here's what i believe:

 

 

 

Obby shield has -8 ranged attack bonus,but range attack bonus does not matter alot (Cause once i had 190 at saradomin) and i still did not hit alot better.

 

 

 

So you get good defense from obby, and you also use diamond e bolts which ignores a good size of a monsters defence.

 

 

 

So range attack bonus i guess is not so important.

A spirit shield would be better at arma for the mage defense. An obsidian shield would be better at Sara for the range and melee(I think that starlight and zil use stab attacks).

Then there is meleer. But i used it at armadyl and i got hit badly. I had Arma skirt, Zamorak d hide, verac helm, d boots, ava accumaltor, barrow gloves.

 

 

 

Don't get why i got hit that badly, i also have 90 magic.

The ONLY difference at arma would be either 1 to slash for obsidian, or 1 to magic for spirit. The combined damage from Kree and Wingman is a LOT more than what you take from Kilisa(think he's slash), so magic defense is mroe important. Either way, 1 point would not make a noticable difference, so the difference that you noticed was purely incidental, and if you did any extensive testing a spirit shield would come out being better in such a small way that it does not matter at all. Like I said before, range bonus is virtually irrelevant.

 

 

 

The differences at Sara, however, are much more noticeable. The VAST majority of damage at Sara comes from Bree(you shouldn't be getting hit by Zil so much, and starfire wanders), so the 20 points to range defense has an effect. The 1 point difference in stab defens eis negligible, but it also supports obsidian.

May I ask what familiar you plan on using at SGWD? From what you've said, it sounds like you're soloing and running around in a box...

 

Wouldn't you have to use a Terrorbird for the energy replenishment?

People use purple sweets with opther familiars. In a team, if you manage your energy right you won'y need more than 1 or two sweets every 10 minutes or so.

 

 

 

I take a bird soloing, though.

The best familiar expect Unicorn and a Steel titan, is a Spirit terrorbird:

 

 

 

- It's cheap, and you got always loads of them

 

- It's useful by far: energy. I once checked how much 200 purple sweets(10% run energy per) and 200 spirit terrorbird scrolls (35% run energy) cost, and Spirit cost around 4K+ and purple sweets over 400K. So there is very big difference.

 

 

 

And no i do not solo, i am with my team. I needed to be sure on which shield, as i want my team to use the best possible items in their equipment setup so that they won't make the team be less effective.

If you can use ponies then you require NO other food, at all, in teams of at least 3 people. I'm not sure, but I'm betting that a full bird and inventory of brews/restores(3:1 ratio) and tireless run scrolls(even though you probably won't be buying them), cost more than unicorn scrolls(I personally have thousands because I hoarded greens) and the few sweets that you will need. Like I said before, you shouldn't have to use that energy boost so often.
