froman11
For strength training i would say saradomin sword with dbaxe spec overall strength would be armadyl godsword if its attack the best wep is whip whip is also best for def to my knowledge
Zaaps1
There are really only four: 1) Whip 2) Godswords 3) Saradomin Sword 4) Obby Sword/Mace w/Zerker Necklace ~It's Super Effective! froman11
if you have 4 mill i would keep the whip, use it to kill green drags, make 3-3.5 mill ( price of sara sword fluctuates quite a bit) you might even get lucky and get it at 6.4-6.8 and buy the sara sword i dont think you could make enough to buy a godsword and if you dont want to spend much money id buy a zerker neclace and use the obby items
ladycai
Sara sword is a controversial item. Some people don't think it's effective for melee training, like a downgraded GS. 95/99 Summoning95/99 Slayer [hide=This is what you look like when you play RS too long][/hide]
aeternitatis
The Saradomin Sword has the exact same stats as the whip, but it's two-handed so you can't wield a defender with it, making the whip stronger. People use the Saradomin Sword to train strength, because unlike the whip it has an option to train strength. Unless you're planning on training strength more than your other melee skills I suggest sticking with your whip. If you don't have a rune defender yet, get one, because they give a nice boost to your weapon attack/strength. Here's Tip It's guide to the Warrior's guild, which is where you obtain defenders. I recommend only getting tokens by killing your own armour sets. At your combat, you should be killing black or mithril armour sets. I hope this helped. Zaaps1
That's precisely the reason why controlled is the best way to train melee stats, so you don't HAVE TO use a d scim or ss. ~It's Super Effective! Training strength speeds up your attack and def training though. It goes either way. Not really. First off, that little amount is very negligible. Say you consistently hit 1 higher, that'll only add a few hundred xp per hour. Same for attack. But the whip is proven to be over 5k xp per hour higher than the d scimmy, and I estimate about 2k-3k higher than SS. Also, you must realize that in controlled, you'll also speed up training, except all at once. Controlled is better. ~It's Super Effective! Roberthree
The lost 5 strength lowers your hit by one. Training your strength to 99 first before you do the rest adds 10 to your hit. Assuming you want all melees maxed out then using a ss to get 99 str first is the better option.
ultimatballr
Don't burn all your money on a Sara Sword. Just use a D scimmy or Obby combo. There is no need to spend every gp you have on one item. In fact that would be stupidity if you did that. Just stick with a whip for att/def (or on controlled) and use a Dscimmy or obby combo for str. An obby combo is an obsidian sword and a berserker necklace (onyx), in case you didn't know. Apparently, my signature was to big.

So you can predict the future then? Market trends are random. Yes the market, especially the SS, has a stable market. But no one knows when or if the market will crash tomorrow or skyrocket the next day. Just saying its never smart to put all your money into one item. Phat, weapons, armor, anything. Its never smart. --------- The obby combo is only better than the Whip with strength training. There is nothing better for att and def training than the whip. Apparently, my signature was to big. Not applicable for people who want 99 str, 70 attack and 10 def. Applicable until you get 10 def :P But yeah, that group doesn't include him. And remember even though your strength max hit is boosted by one, that doesn't mean you hit 1 higher EVERY hit, you just have the chance of hitting 1 higher than before. It's like choosing between a berserker ring or a bunch of ppots. Why wouldn't you just pray piety with that 2m instead of +1 max hit? ~It's Super Effective! You can't sell prayer pots back after you're done using them ;) But you probably save so much time due to faster xp you could easily make that 2m or so in pots back. Superhuman Strength alone gives about 12% or so extra xp per hour. So if you use 10 ppots an hour (not even sure if that is right), then you'd get 12% faster xp at the cost of 50k per hour. So 2m in ppots would last you 40 hours, 12% of that is ~5. That's 5 hours to make 2m, which I can make in 3- hours, so it's worth it for me. The bare minimum money/hour what would make buying ppots better than buying a zerker ring would be 400k per hour. If I remember correctly, farming kwuarms and collecting snape grass at waterbirth is more than that. The above isn't even taking into account the skill xp you would get making that money back. If you RC deaths to make back the money, you'd get ~135k RC experience IN ADDITION for the quicker xp in combat. That in itself is about 2-3 hours of ZMI, meaning you'd save ANOTHER 2-3 hours doing this from the RC xp. ~It's Super Effective!
