player owned horses (not houses...horses)

I think that a decent idea for a moneysink, and a useful item, would be player owned hoRses.

Horses would allow for much faster and efficient travel, and oculd be bought from a specialty store, untradeable, after completion of a quest.

As an additional moneysink, horses would have to boarded at a stable for 1k or 5k price a day, maybe more??

Horses are a massive no. They're not in diango's joke shop for nothing, the old April Fools that gave all the neebeez horses was to give them toy horses.

Just find another thread with horses and see how they are shot down and locked.

it will POSSIBLELY happen next year, as it would be a huge update that would be annoying to do.

at the moment walking is the only way to move freely, and it will stay that way.... MOST LIKELY

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

The way that other games have done horses is to simply replace/update the running animation.

The way it works is something like:

1) Use bridle (in inventory)

2) Poof, you appear to be sitting on the back of the horse

3) You click on the map to go somewhere and the animation shows you riding the horse.

4) You reach your destination and go back to step 2 or

5) You click "Dismount" and you

6) Poof, are back on the ground and the horse disappears.

So, if Jagex added horses in this manner it could be a relatively easy addition.

I chuckled to read a perfectly innocent post about horses, written by one who had no idea how many times it had been posted.

No offense, of course, Brian :) You now have learned of Horse Posting.

New term, I coined it :)

I see nothing wrong or noobish with adding horses. It makes perfect sense. IF jagex were to add horses, they could put it with farming, carpentry, and POH. YOu would have to build a stable next to your house, and take care of the horse. As for the sizing problem, the only thing standing in the way, it would be simple for jagex make the paths and distances slightly bigger, and when you were riding take a view further away. It would be a good money sinkhole maintaining your horse, and would add more to farming, which some dont seem excited about. Pluse there could be some sorta horse raising thing.

And as for vendetta, im not sure you used it right, since it means a bitter, bloody feud, usually between families.

wouldn't horses demote the whole concept of agility?

I really hadnt thought of that...what if it required certain agility lvls to ride, run, jump, race, etc, with your horse? and the affect of agility could carry over to horses aswell, but to a lesser degree.

And hopefully if they did add horses, they would make the requirements to aquire, maintain, and ride strict enough so that they wouldnt replace walking/running, but instead be a luxury for the rich/high-lvled

I'm no programmer, but that can't be "simple" to do. JAGeX already doesn't want people getting around the game too easily. However, when they do add a mode of transport , they tend to instill a service, not something you can own yourself, be it a horse/model T/spaceship, etc. :)
