Good 3D Rendering Program?

3d studio max and bryce5 come to my mind. However, there are a lot of programs, free and non-free, that will work.

Bryce5 is cheep btw, like 50-70$ i thought now (compared to like 2000+ For 3dsm, dunno actual price) :)

I thought Bryce 5 was only for landscaping. Any tutorials you can point me towards for abstracts and such. Thanks

Here's something quick I made with bryce to show it is possible to do abstracts with it.

Bryce won't make abstracts as complicated as 3dsm or c4d, but it is cheap and it does work.

Bryce 5 is SO not only for landscaping! =p It's not as "high end" as 3dsmax, but I really enjoy it. There are a lot of tutorials at deviantART that you can try out for Bryce... Here's a link I found to one --->http://www.deviantart.com/view/16222247/

Phalanxe, you're just promoting the fact that bryce abstracts are nothing but tori/primitive shapes! :x

There are some great (more complex) abstracts that can come out of bryce, but there is no comparison beside the more advanced (and more expensive) programs like 3dsmax or C4D.

But there is no point in buying a $3,000+ 3D modeling program if all you want to do are some basic abstracts. Instead, you can spend $50 for Bryce and start pumping out basic tori/sphere abstracts. :D If however, you want to get into very advanced 3D, (as in modeling, instead of just basic shapes) programs like 3dsmax, rhino3D, and maya are great choices.

It's kind of a waste of a good program

:? What makes you say this... Its probably the easiest to master for simple abstracts, and more complex abstracts can look as fantastic as 3ds max models if you know how to use the program.

Everyone is recommending 3dsm without taking into account the learning curve. It can take quite a long time to get used the the program and its vast amount of features.

There are quite a few general modelling tutorials for 3dsm available at http://www.huntfor.com/3d/tutorials.htm

As far as abstract goes, you might want to check deviant art, or some place where it is more popular.

(Oh, venomai..thats why I put "quick" )

I'd prefer the program to be used for modelling. I'm just kind of sick of abstracts.
