Well, I hate those [developmentally delayed]ed glasses you need to put on for airsoft because otherwise you could get blind, so I thought: Hey i'm gonna buy a gas mask, and I did. But i'm wondering, it's an authentic first hand (well it has never been worn before) danish gas mask, and it's eyeglasses are made of plastic. So would it survive a BB barrage?

I might add that these things are not the best to breath in after running, etc. They allow you to breath but after and while doing something strenuous it could become troublesome. I'd advise against it for this reason, but yes i'd say it would work as long as the eyes arn't paper thin.

I estimate them to be 3 or 4 millimeters thick, and the breathing is okay, I already tried that.

Additionally, if the mask is a surplus mask (and out of date/not current production) you should not wear it with the filters in. Old gas mask filters have all sorts of chemicals in them that are terrible for your health, so if you do wear it keep the filter canister off.

Yea I wouldn't waste that gas filter canister anyway, for the instance where toxic warfare does occur :? [/conspiration]

 

But the air valve is just a regular one and the thing you breathe out of is also just two sheets of perforated aluminium or some other metal with something to keep air from getting in.

 

 

 

PS. Yes it is a surplus mask (from poland), but I don't know how old it is, doesn't seem too old.

You're probably going to end up regretting buying it, heavy, ugly and will eventually get in the way.

As soon as you start running around with the gas mask on you're seriously going to regret it's weight and lack of proper airflow.

It has great airflow and isn't really heavy. It does occassionally get fogged but I can see things more easily with fog, than with those ridiculous tinted glasses that came with my gun.

I usually play with a replica of a highly armored mask used by some military contractors. The real ones protect against some sniper fire, depending on how big the bullet is, and how fast. The mask I have protects up to really low caliber bullets which is pretty cool. Anyway, I'm guessing it would work, gas masks are made to be durable. A way to test it would be to simply shoot the mask.

I kind of want an automatic pellet gun right now. -.- I used to have a pellet pistol, but I gave it to my cousin because I didn't have much use for it. (I only used it to kill any bugs that invaded the house.)

I was playing airsoft my whole childhood and never wore a mask, never got hit in the face either.

Those ESS goggles are top notch, we are issued those in the Marine Corps.

I dunno why you need them. Even the more expensive airsoft guns don't hurt.

 

 

 

I guess it is cooler than goggles, though. And if you have to play at a field (do they have airsoft fields...?), they'd probably make you wear something over your eyes.

It's not really limiting compared to a paintballmask and you have a small bit of vision loss compared to goggles, but those glasses you get with guns are tinted and we play in a dark barn so it's near impossible to see people with those standard issue glasses.

If only you had a flamethrower to go with it...
