Driving Phobias...

I have lived in Utah (USA) for about four years now, and now I have a fear of driving, mostly on the highways. Example, today we went to Panda Express. WE ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT 3 TIMES!!! I tend to close my eyes well driving, and the first almost accident, I felt us stoping super fast and riding over the curb!!! OMFG the DMV in Utah hands drivers licenses to 3-year olds lol. I am scared of driving on highways in this state lol and if u lived here so would you...

So if you wanna laugh at me or tell about your phobiatic driving experiences, fell free to post.

Well, I've only been driving a short time, so there are quite a few things that make me real nervous. Though, I think my bigger ones are getting on interstate highways (some people don't want to let you in), idiots who drive, and idiots who ride bicycles.

Just today, I was turning into my neighborhood, with a car parked to the left of me. I started accelerating out of the turn when two idiots jumped from behind the parked car to about 5 feet away from the front of my car, and they just stopped and laughed. It must have been 15 seconds before the idiots took off, with a lot of.. words exchanged. I might also add I got my first taste of Road Rage then too :? .

LOL ya. Seeing the way people drive, and the way my sister drives, gives me second thoughts about wanting to drive, if I drive or decide its safe to, would only be in Alaska in a car free area lol.

I drive like a mad man  When its snowy out I take my "old" car out its a 1990 Ford Tempo. I go like 60 down a icy road pull the e-brake turn the wheel and start sliding down the road. I have also been pulled over for doing this. It was about 2am me and 4 friends where just out and about messing around hitting snow drifts with my car and we went down the main road in town doin about 60-70 we pulled the e-brake on the ice/snow and slid farther than we though and we went right though a red light and a cop was sitting right there. We tried to tell him we lost control but i guess he was watching us the whole time . Other than that iam driving my 1969 nova or my 2001 eclipse like 150 up and down the highway. (yes i have gotton speeding tickets, No i have not learned my lesson) I got a speeding ticket once for doing 75 in a 30. I was trying to run over a seagull that was flying right down the middle of the road.(i dont like birds) :D

i didnt really enjoy driving out in the rain today, had to go around a curve that brings you around about 270 degrees to get onto the express way, and when i first got on the onramp my car didnt turn :? then when i put on my brakes they didnt do anything. i know you arent supposed to put on your brakes when its slippery or you lose control, but i didnt have any so i said what the hell. eventually my tires caught and i drove nice and safe the rest of the way home.

I drive like there's no tomorrow. My friends are afraid to ride with me while I am driving. But, I can be safe when I want to. And people who do drive dangerously around me don't get on my nerves. The anxiety of driving takes some getting used to. Just be as safe as you can and don't think of the worst-case scenario.

Stoned taxi drivers in Mexico

Me and my dad were in mexico and we got a cab and the guy was obviously under the influence of SOMTHING, he was showing us pictures of his dog while completly turned around and keeping the wheel steady with his knees. I'm also scared of elk while driving. My family was coming back from a day of skiing and we hit one. Bashed in the front of our car, broke the windshield (didn't shatter just cracked quite a bit thank god) and then got up and ran away! We had to spend the night in a hotel and got a tow truck to tow us the 50 miles back home, my parents wern't to happy with that.

Idiots like you are the reason 40,000 people die in the 6,000,000 car accidents every year in the US alone

I can't say what my biggest phobia is because it's not politically correct.

I'm afraid of people talking on their cell phones, driving their SUV down the freeway going 75, putting on makeup, and trying to calm the kids in the back.

I love driving at night for some reason. During the day there's that driving anxiety, and when I drive at night it's the opposite, almost soothing. Almost to the point of where I'd go driving just because.

I guess phobias go away after a while, that's the hardest part in learning to drive. The pushing pedals is easy to do, anyone can do it. It's 90% mental, as are most things in life. With experience comes ease when driving. You'll get used to it.
