Just download cpu-z (or gpu-z) and check if it says pci-e x16 (or 2.0 x16).

Pryo, it's the blue and black ones =)

I didn't even see the black ones! The blended into the background too much. :-#

Same, lol.

Just because he'll keep his resolution at a low setting doesn't mean the games he will play will. Most games generally change the resolution to either a minimum setting, or a fixed one. And even then games at that resolution aren't going to be very pretty to look at either. This is somewhat more towards the FPS genre where there's more of this to prevent wider view angles and such in-game. Other games also don't even work below such resolutions anymore, it's becoming more prevalent to be at 1280x720 or higher for gaming. I don't know but it's never good to suggest to someone to buy a gfx card for a resolution that is quickly going out of fashion, especially when 25" monitors are quickly becoming less than $300 w/ a gfx card to handle the resolutions.

The ATI Radeon 4830 performs just as good as the Geforce 8800GT. Is either 1-5 FPS ahead or behind against the card as well, usually winning the AA fights:

Most of those were above 20 FPS. Plus if you learn to OC, you'll be cranking it up in games that don't demand or that can be lessened for shadows, and matching that 20% loss in performance/price from the 4850. 4830 is $130 and is small enough to fit in the most cramped, wire spammed space ever. Unlike other cards that are wider/longer, so take that into consideration as well, and it only takes up one slot, and not two like some others.

Or go get the 8800GT too.

But you should find out what Nadril has been asking or we'll be giving you cards you won't be able to use.

Yes yes, but since he says 1024 it's kinda hard to promote a card better than 9800gt. I mean, i've played on 1024 and 1280 with my crappy 8600gt on high settings (even on Far Cry 2) and gotten good fps.

I think 4830 or 9800gt would be best honestly... (depends on if he has thought of a new screen tho) and also since DX11 cards will come out later next year.

But let's see if we got pci-e or agp to deal with...

9800GT can be gotten for $100. I've seen the 9600GS for as low as $70-$80. Anything higher priced than that is a waste.

Where is this? Can't find it on any of the usual online retailers? I can find $99 on newegg after mail-in-rebate.

For what, the 9800 or 9600? 9600 I admit I saw for an after-christmas sale for the 9600.
