Some people seem to think if they click on the orb, it will automatically come to the altar regardless of obstacles -.-

I've seen someone repelling an orb at a rock pillar and wondering why it didn't go through :roll: (I think I took a screenie of it, it was hilarious). Some people are also under the impression that getting the orb close to the general location of the altar will make the altar automatically vaccuum the orb in. :-#

Id like to ask people to take screenshots of epic failure at GoP and post them here please :

With the new update as of September 2,2009, half of those tricks and angles don't work anymore on certain altars and directions -.-.

Ekk, I'm only 20k tokens from my goal, NEOSS!!!

A quick picture for those regulars who are having some trouble with east. With thanks to Shy Yellow, Sad Hollow, Thor 313, and Xx Skilaxx for essence bombing the air altar since I couldn't make a good grid map.

 

 

 

White dot is where you stand.

 

Yellow dots are the key positions from previous lessons.

 

Red dots are the locations of orb spawns.

 

IMPORTANT NOTE: You only need to click once to score these orbs. You do not need to click the ground, click the altar, or break your control from the orb at all. Just click the orb once and let it do the rest.

This is all because of what I'm going to call the Great Divide. The Great Divide is a line that runs right down the middle of the north and south arches. This line separates the new ways and the old ways. Orb spawns to the west require new techniques. The east spawns require the old techniques. Basically any orb west of the dividing line involve new ways. This is why, if you stood south, you have to do the new techniques to get western spawns, but are forced to do the old ways when spawns are eastern.

I'll incorporate this into the guide once I finish brushing up the rest. It will take me a while. Hope it helps those who are having trouble. The new techniques happened because the east-west orb movement, a fundamental of GoP, has become more emphasized as a rule than before.

That looks confusing. Might go play GOP to try it out.

This one I'm not sure of as I can't remember if it's one more or one less spaces than that. All these shots can be mirrored for the northwestern spawns, and western spawns if you stood south. (The east spawns, if you stood south, require the old way in accordance to the Great Divide.)

 

 

 

Most important thing is to hold until the orb is between the arches, and then you move back and score it. :ohnoes:

ooo The Great Divide, hmm. That's a good way to think about it. To get the orbs on the west side just pretend that they are one space closer, works for me :)

Very nice guide! This taught me the 4 directional spots in GOP, and has helped me improve my attracting skills.

 

I'm using this method to get my goal of 6 talisman staffs (air obtained, 5 more to go!). I'm using 50/50, due to my fail internet lagging me out when playing GOP. <_<

 

Will you also add information about the Repel wand later?

As I read in the guide, doesn't the new angles make attracting into the altar easier? Since you only have to click once for the orbs to go in...

 

And, at the very least, add a barrier section. I find that inbetween the pillars and right in front of spawn points the best place to put these.
