The guy has a point. If you are using expensive arrows in a place where arrows are inconvinient to get back it sucks. But i still use bronze arrows training at the SoS because they are cheep enough to ignore the 1st shot to get them near you and you pick up the pile.

I don't think the attractor or accumulator collect knives, but I could be wrong.

 

 

 

The accumulator doesn't work over obstacles, nor does it pick up all the ammo I fire, even without an obstacle.

 

Its either a bug, or on purpose, or obstacles like rocks, stalagmites, brick walls and etc. are slightly magnetic in nature (maybe they got metals/ minerals in them), thereby disrupting the accumulator's function.

 

 

 

Just a short comment about breaking / losing ammo: Its really a small price in exchange for range experience. But it would be nice to keep using the same 1k bronze arrows I used from when I was level 1 Ranged j/k.

 

 

 

In case you didn't know, the accumulator and attractor aren't supposed to collect over most obstacles. The reason Jagex goves is that the magnetic fields mess with the device, but I think it's because they can't program it to allow the arrows to go through obstacles.

 

And to omg12333- it isn't supposed to collect everything. Just a lot of them.

Why, what's all this talk about this here Accumulator and it not picking up all of your arrows? Why, back in F2P, if you wanted to pick up your arrows, you'd have to run out from your safespot, pick each one up, then run all the way back to the safespot, both ways uphill.

 

 

 

But seriously, I'm F2P, and even to me, a 3k loss is like, nothing.

Ohh, ok, because in a Postbag from Beyond the Hedge a couple of months ago, there was some letter to Ava asking about it, and she asked if the person wanted the Attractor/Accumulator to collect knives, as if it didn't. Maybe they've updated it since then.

The storyline. That's all I can say. It's a magnet, so it can't pick up metal if some is in the way. Also, magnets are 100% accurate. I would love to see an Animal Magnetism 2 with an even better accumulator, but all the "range is overpowered" people would just rant.

 

 

 

 

 

 

I just hate how it just doesn't do those two things. It would be so convenient if it did, but it doesn't. Especially the accumulator vs. obstacle thing.

 

 

 

It's annoying, but they can't change it without doing major work on the quest's storyline.

 

 

 

 

Breaking ammo. When an ammo "breaks," it disappears out of the game. There is a 20% chance of it happening. I hate this too, because I always lose more than 20% of the things I fire, due to my bad luck. Every fire giant trip results in losing more than 200 of any ammunition. It's very annoying.

 

 

 

 

Incorrect. The better the metal, the less chance it has to break.

 

 

 

Breaking ammos has been there since day 1. Why do you want to change it? It's a balancing mechanism, and if you're losing too much, either go to a higher or lower metal, or (as you say yourself) just treat it as bad luck. Annoying? Yes, it must be, but at least it's better than what the mages have.

Ranging is for boss hunting, and you train it with Chinchompas. :mrgreen: Seriously, that's how I view it. It's annoying as hell training it with safespots.

Yeah ok, 500 free steel arrows that nobody will buy? There's hardly any difference between bronze and steel when you train, and you'd make more money during that time by raising a cat or something.

Yes, you absolutely could make more money raising a cat, but this adds on to whatever you are doing and all you sacrifice is your cape spot. Plus, if you don't have 99 range already, you can use the arrows to train, not to sell.

500 steels over 24 hours? Ok so let's put it this way. If you use them to train, they're worth the same as bronze arrows (8gp?). If you use them to sell, they're worth GE price IF you can sell, otherwise it's worthless. 28gp ea if sold (at med, which is also the min). So the most you'll get in those 24 hours is something like 1.3k...how much gp is that per hour? Almost nothing, you'd get more with randoms.

 

 

 

True, it's free. But since you aren't doing anything dangerous, you're wearing a piece of awful-looking s***. It looks terrible, and you also can't wear metal armor with in on (otherwise it won't attract arrows). That means you can't wear a skillcape and you can't wear fancy or expensive armor.

Well obviously if you have a skillcape, wear that! If I had one I would wear it all the time! Of course it looks like a piece of crap, and skillcapes look awesome. But a lot of people don't have skillcapes, so you can just wear this.
