Terraaer
Hey TIF, I was just wondering how many of you have experience in computer programming. I dont mean coding masters, just anybody whos sat down by themselves and made a functional program start to finish. Since the majority of high schools offer introductory courses to grade 10 students, i suspect that atleast some of you have worked with turing/ python/ visual basic. I am by no means an experienced programmer, i have only taken the course mentioned above (finished with an 89 average \ ). For those are not familiar with computer program, it is basically giving your computer instructions. ex: -you could write games (runescape is writen in java) -you could make word programs -you could write instructions for a robotic arm Thanks for reading, Terra Aer ps: i could not find any other topics like this so forgive me if there is <--- click for teh free cookies! nom nom nom

JoeDaStudd
I can code decently in VB.Net, I ok at C++ (currently learning), but only with the standard libraries. I can code in one or 2 other languages but I'm trying to stick with those 2. I've been meaning to look at Python, but I always seem to forget. Program wise, I've made a few basic games as well as some nice little apps. Sbrideau
I'm currently a programming student in college. I know C++ and am learning VB.net. I will learn more languages in the year and a half to come, like php, java, we will even program some programs on linux. This is just to name a few. dsavi
Meh, I know PHP to the point that I can describe in detail how a program written in it would work, but when I go to write it nothing parses or works like I want it to. -.- For those are not familiar with computer program, it is basically giving your computer instructions. ex: -you could write games (runescape is writen in java) -you could make word programs -you could write instructions for a robotic arm Most of us are pretty familiar with what a computer program is. :P

RSBDavid
Just started learning JAVA. I knew more then my visual basic instructor did so I got into JAVA thankfully. First Java Program I made: public class HelloWorld { public static void main(String args[]) { System.out.println("Hello World!"); } } I am good :ugeek: [software Engineer] - [Ability Bar Suggestion] - [Gaming Enthusiast]
compfreak847
I'm fairly proficient in VB.NET (If I can't code it myself, I can do it with google :P ), and I know some about c++. Fairly good with most web languages like ASP, Javascript, HTML, CSS. Tried a little Java, did some perl a few years ago. Nothing too low level. Yep :P I love Visual Studio, covers a ton of languages under a single standard interface, regardless of if I'm designing web pages or applications. compfreak847
And we all know that the .NET framework is so cross-platform. Exactly. When 89% of the world, and 98% of my client run XP\Vista, I'm not worried. Most people I know would sit down in front of linux\mac and ask 'Where's the start button?'. I have nothing against either OS, but MS is currently dominant, with no evidence of a fall in the near future. Sbrideau
Well, even if I like Notepad++ pretty much, I don't care about using Visual Studio, anyway the college forces me to use it, so why not use it?

ClareJonsson
I have had a little bit of experience in programming, I started with Sinclair Basic on the old ZX81 and have been coding ever since, lets list what I have coded in: Sinclair Basic on ZX81, ZX Spectrum and QL. Assembly on the ZX Spectrum BBC Basic on the Acorn BBC Micro Can Do on the Amiga GL Basic DOS batch programming VB Dos VB6 A bit of VB.NET Game Maker scripting (Not drag and drop) Javascript PHP MySQL Oracle Access Fenix Actionscript (Flash) Oh and a little bit of basic on the Playstation 2, I just made a sort of flying lines screen saver. Dracion1
I keep meaning to have a go at something but I've never gotten round to it. All I've done is a bit of VB at school (which was horrible) and the print command in python. "In the beginning, the universe was created. Makoto_the_Phoenix
Student [Computer Scientist] here, second year of college. I know a fair bit of Java (worked with it for about a year), working on learning some Python and C/C++. Taken a little detour to learn about bash scripting, to simplify my life on Linux just a touch. Going to be taking an assembly course here in a few days, looking forward to that.
