I'm really enjoying it. I'm used to the Red Alert series and it isn't much of a difference to the gameplay. The major difference though is the controller. I don't like not being able to map out my units, but everything else works fine. Just gotta get used to it.

I only played one game so far.

I just finished playing the demo, it's alright. The first level reminded me a lot like the first level of star craft. The second level you could basically just sit there till you got a ton of points or money or whatever they where called then build a crazy army without effort. The controls were easy which was great cause I wasn't expecting to have such an easy time with.

I agree, maybe a timer could be added to make it more challenging.

I didn't even get a chance to use my Scorpion Tank :(

I have played a couple of games on this... and I think its way too similar to Commander and Conquer 3 (360 version).

It's just, like CnC3: Tiberium Wars- its had to face the fact that RTS's don't work on consoles because of the controls systems. No matter how agile you are on a controller you cannot beat the speed of PC RTS with the mouse and keyboard (hotkeys) so i really dose deduct from the fun of the gameplay. If there was a PC version i'm sure it would be good... (but not quite as good as Age of Mythology or Age of Empires 2)

Also, alot of RTS longlevity comes from user generated content, and since i don't see a mapmaker/scenario maker and haven't ever seen a good RTS mapmaking system on a console, i don't expect this will last long.

Ignoring the highly frustrating controls system the game is OK. It doesn't add much to the genre but i i guess if you like Command and conquer/ other fast paced RTS and you like Halo you could enjoy it.

I guess if you haven't ever played PC RTS you could enjoy it in ignorant bliss of what could have been :)

Also, i don't know if it's just me but they seem to have simplified things to TRY to accomodate for the controls, including making the AI fairly dumb (because previous Ensemble Studio games have had good AI).

I would really reccomend buying CnC3 on PC instead of this; you could probably even download a user generated Halo skin for it if you wanted.

Yeah...Some people just go out of their way to ruin other peoples fun.
Sounds like Jagex to me...

Like I said, I'm used to playing the Red Alert series, which is why the "population cap" Halo Wars features (similar to Warcraft) is really frustrating. I LOVE MAKING HUGE ARMIES. If I want 100 Scorpions, let me build all of them. Don't limit me. I understand in campaign, yeah, but in a skirmish? C'mon.

I'm used to KB+M controls with RTS, but the controller is *not* that bad. I'm willing to use the controller if they had a bit better AI and gameplay.

I played through the tutorial and some of the campaign. It seems like an alright game. Personally I am thinking of maybe buying it, but if then, only for the PC. I was, and still am rather; a huge fan of Starcraft. This is game is similar in certain ways, but playing it on the xbox 360 I found it... well, the controls still are a little weird. But maybe with time I'd get use to them.

Looking forward to seeing some reviews of this game once it comes out, for now I'm leaning towards not buying it though.

To be honest, I expected Halo Wars to be an FPS where you fight alongside an army of Spartan Soldiers.

I actually would of Rather this. Although the normal series is good for fps, I wouldn't mind a more 'all out war' fps where you are in the heat of battle (although number three has some levels pretty close).

My brother downloaded the demo today, and I watched him play a bit. seemed ok, although I'm still iffy about the controller thing. Plus from what he said, there seems to be a balance issue with being the covenant.
