Some random events will be removed from the game. Poison-gas chests, smoking rocks, broken pickaxes and ents will become things of the past. The Drunken Dwarf will be retired as a random event, but he'll still be free to roam the world, handing out kebabs to his mateys. You'll still be able to obtain shade robes, strange fruit and security books; we do not intend to discontinue any existing rewards.

1. Jagex have specifically stated on the forums that they will be auto-repairing any broken axes along with the random event update.

 

2. Even if they did forget somehow, the price would not skyrocket, as it is linked in to the price of the non-broken version of the axe.

Well considering this is posted all over the RSOF and all the fan-site forums, Jagex wont mess up.

I don't exactly see a lot of people trading half wine anymore (even easter eggs and pumpkins seems to have diminished). Most likely people rather have a rare that is actually viewable/wearable instead of something that can only be seen through a trade window.
