February 7, 200917 yr ^ It's completely true, though. Anyway, it just looks filtery and monotone. Just following some tutorial which tells you to use filter x for the background and then add in a render and blend it in slightly is not going to help you improve at all. Read more, good tutorials that teach you something about the basics such as colour scheme choice and composition, then go back to Gimp and create something using the knowledge you got from reading the tutorials, not the step-by-step instructions. pixel avvy by me deviantART

The dude is crazy blurry, the background is boring and has no depth or variety (which means that it is very two dimensional, and that all of the elements in the signature look the same -- which leads to a boring piece).
