  1. You mean just like the already-existing skillcapes? Guess it's not a very surprising choice of action from Jagex after all. C'est la vie.
  2. Gotta love the banner ads I see each time I open the game to play, right? Membership does help fund the game, but don't ever tell us that viewing those ads doesn't help Jagex. --------------------------- I suppose I can only hope that Jagex reverses their current decisions, but I think it's unlikely. Kind of makes you wonder why you are barred from receiving an object to denote a distinction you've achieved just because you don't pay for it. Keep in mind that some people don't pay because they cannot due to numerous limitations. Not everyone lives in the US and has access to Runescape game cards.
  3. My biggest gripe is that neither of these two capes require any form of member participation. As far as I can tell, they were designed to reward players who had been around that long as either a sign of appreciation or some sign of grandeur or accomplishment. You need Members for the Milestone capes, but no one is required to pay for Members to fulfil the requirements for either Classic or Veteran capes. If the rationale is due to stats, there is nothing wrong with having stats-only versions of those capes in P2P. Regardless, I cannot understand why a cape of distinction should be forbidden to players who earned that distinction. I'm not even going to approach the "F2P don't deserve anything" argument as prior posts did explicitly state they would be available to all players.
  4. I can understand somewhat if the Veteran Cape is P2P, but honestly, making even the Classic Cape P2P is a downright slap in the face to any free player who has actually been around that long. If the entire point of the Classic Cape is to show that you've played since RSC, or have at least logged into RSC, it has nothing to do with whether you used to be a member or not. Neither does the Veteran Cape. Mind as well have a cape called "Supporting Jagex" for those who've been members of the game for more than X amount of years consistently.
  5. Never thought I'd ever see this type of thread :P Hello
  6. My understanding of the RoW is that if it merely shows when it improves your loot, it will already be a plus in itself over it's current situation, although it's improvements seem promising. 100% Dunge exp in F2P above 90 combat plx
  7. A lot of my work is on deviantArt, so I will link as required. Of course, I would copy-paste some of my more recent pieces. +Faves and Comments welcomed and appreciated! <3 What is life? What is life? What is life but a fable agreed upon By the people surrounding us? We are told when to wake and when to sleep, When to eat and when to speak. We are taught how to see the world As others see it - and never seek it. We are prisoners chained to the rock, Enslaved to shackles of destined fate. Our purpose to live has been foretold, And our means of death prophesied. Like Daedalus we yearn for free flight, To soar unrestrained from the prison of Crete, To flee from the labyrinth of no escape - Knowing full well - there's no way we can. Like the stone on the shore that becomes sand, Or the flower in the garden that will wilt; And as Gaia spins around eclipsed Helios: All omnipotent, all laughing at our plight, As they play us like pawns to the king of gods. Is that what life is? A story of marching slaves towards a bottomless pit? A chronicle of sorrowful facts that never end, As the clocks tick by and breath erodes away? Like a plot already predetermined by prophecy? So, what is life but a fable agreed upon? ------------------------ Wake UP! Wake up. Wake up! Wake up from your slumber! Look around you! Open your eyes! Can't you see what's happening? If you open your eyes, I am sure you can. Can't you see the devastation of nature's wrath? Or how about the damage of terror? Or the disease that plagues our world? Or the famines? How about the people who lost their lives to war, The bleeding children and dying women? Surely you see this? But, look closer. Do you see the emptiness behind that fake smile? Or that lack of emotion behind the empty laugh? How about the fear covered by words of courage? Or those that need help but too afraid to ask? Those who dread and run, who run and dread, do you not see them? Surely, you see this? ----------------------- Melodies of Life An Angel in the shadows
  8. I think a lot of people are overreacting to the addition of a new F2P quest. It is targeted at beginners, not veterans who one hit everything in that dungeon. It is not designed to be excessively challenging. On another note, how many of you have started the game knowing exactly what the combat triangle was without looking it up or being told by other people? This quest fills in the gap that the tutorials lacked, and I think is an excellent addition to the starting of the game. That being said, I'm quite disappointed at how some people are reacting to the whole "GIVE P2P MORE HIGH LEVEL CONTENT!" thing. This is, by and large, an MMO with the needs to maintain profit margins and revenue flow. They cannot create content that only applies to 1% or less of the community that plays it. While it appeals to those who have 99s in many skills, it does not appeal to those who cannot dedicate the time, attention and money to achieve it. That being said, I think greater quests should be implemented for F2P players, especially those to tease them into paying for membership, and also assuming that the new skill being planned is only P2P. Flame me for it for all I care, but it doesn't change the fact that Jagex has, as of yet, not really removed the "demo" aspect of F2P, which, IIRC, they said they would do. As for the 300 QP item... What can I say? It is, IMHO, by and large just an item to commerate the 300th QP of the game. Hate it, love it, despite it, but it doesn't change the fact that it is the milestone for 300QP. So what if it is ugly or statless? I'm very sure on the way to 300QP, you've benefited more than obtaining the helmet. And, judging from the effort needed to obtain said 300th Quest Point, it would be a little silly to give it insanely useful stats and bonuses. That being said, I'm sure it will have some usefulness in the long-run.
  9. If you wanna learn how to smudge well, best start is to work with random shapes and abstract based work as that makes you focus on smudging as the focal and effect and not as a subeffect to better blend/meld the focal. Having a sig of nothing but smudging can be very good practice in order to make a good piece.

    Summer?

    Wow looks amazing. Nice job!
  11. It takes quite some skill to utilise the pen tool effectively to achieve certain effects. Even from preferring the pen tool over fractals and C4Ds, it can still take me a few tries to get a good pen tool effect. Love the pen tooling shiny. Always develop a skill that sets you apart and makes you unique. Most importantly, have fun! :)
  12. Improvement is a general curve upwards, not a curve that is smooth, but rather a best fit. In other words, in the midst of improving, you might get worse. Anyways, I suggest tutorials. Not that you aint good, but they teach a lot and are quite helpful.
  13. Looks nice, really nice job. Although I question the choice of having the lines go in front of the focal instead of into the background, but your call I suppose. Still looks good, just a weird choice of it. Resources used? :)
  14. My biggest problem with the first one is that, the face is looking --->, while the camera is looking <---- This conflict in flow gets very confusing. You might want to make the face a little brighter to draw more attention to that, cause now when they are both more or less bright, looking at both at the same time makes my eyes go <---->, which is not that good.
  15. My favs are 3,5,6,7. Number 3 with the eagle looks great, but I think you need to do some post work manipulation to make it look better. It has good potential to make an interesting stock for a photo manip. Same goes for most of my other choices. Interesting takes. Very interesting and refreshing from digital artwork and words ^_^
  16. You need to make it more interesting. Just because it's a "large piece" does not mean that you can't utilise some of the tools you learnt from sig making. Much of the same things still apply: flow, depth, lighting, rule of thirds, colour, etc. A good attempt, but maybe you could try working at wallpaper size? like 1024*768. A bit cliched, but at least when you make something, you can put it to use! :)
  17. I use GIMP too, haha. *laughs* First and foremost, read up on the basic tools of the trade and the basic things you need to take note of, like flow, depth, colour, composition, effects, rule of thirds, etc etc. There is a lot of things you need to take note of, both generally as art basics, and specifically to signatures. Look through pieces done by a huge variety of sig makers and see how they place their renders in a particular fashion, chose a particular colour, etc etc. Looking at other pieces of work will inspire you to be creative with your own work. Reading through tutorials is important not just to broaden your skills as a sig maker, but also to improve your familiarity with your choice of program (GIMP). Learn the effect of as many filters as possible, learn what you will use the most. Learn how to use brushes and paths and perspective tools. The more and better you know your tools, the better the outcome will be (normally). Secondly, be willing to learn and absorb what you learn. Try not to always follow tutorials word for word, but throw your own style into it. A tutorial is for teaching you how the artist reached the outcome, not for you to replicate it (normally). Learn the different skills used demonstrated in tutorials, like C4D placement, smudging, flow, lighting, etc etc, and utilise that to your advantage and add that to your pool of skills. Useful places for resources include GIMPTalk and deviantArt. I guess you have done signatures before, but if you want to approach it more seriously with one of the most top of the line raster editors, it will be worth the investment to spend time reading tutorials and getting to know the program better. Keep your mind open! However, most importantly, have fun!
  18. Wow that looks interesting and awesome. :P
  19. It looks quite good, actually. Of course there seems to be a lack of evident flow or depth. Looks very static. Composition wise it looks quite good and solid. Good choice of colours. Better than any of your previous stuff? Probably.
  20. That looks simply splendid! Good job!
  21. It is indeed a good move by Jagex to further add to the already badly trolled and populated community of the RSOFs. Official forums form the backbone for many MMOs, especially games that are quite society-centered. RS is not a very society centered game, seeing as to how strongly it reinforces rules such as filter avoiding or swearing, which is normally more lenient on many other MMOs. That being said, I am glad to see that Jagex are taking the measures to further include F2Pers into its community and acknowledge that they have their own reasons to remain F2P and not pay. Some F2Pers, like me, and many others, have been around since the game was about 1-2 years old. I do remember classic. I was here during the early stages of RS2. I think it is about time that F2Pers are not set apart from P2P because they are whiny or trolls or spammy. Just because F2Pers do not pay for the game, does not mean that they are whiny or trolly. Its a common stereotype set because of the many elitist attitudes of P2Pers. I believe it is obvious who such people are. Anyways, it is nice to see Jagex finally looking into the F2P aspect of the game and focusing on improvements that help it. For the record, many P2P made items, like arrows, bows, maple logs, runes and the like, all have F2P demand. With F2P supply like lobsters, willow logs, yew logs and the like, P2Pers also benefit. If we entirely remove F2P from the game, the economy is likely to collapse. F2Pers contribute a lot the the running of RS, and it is high time they get greater recognition.
