The last one has a bit too much negative/unused space, but they are quite good. I like the perspective and background of the pixel sig, just not digging the guy in the foreground.
-
Focalise the focal. As said, dull the C4D to make the focal more pronounced. Make the focal (render) stand out more. The text would look better if its smaller and less pronounced, and less obvious and not as bright as the rest of the image.

Love how you contradict there. So, Jopie wins. Gratz.

I didn't even expect second, let along first. Anyways, I said that since it seems quite weird in the bottom right as it doesn't match very well with the rest of the ground under close scrutiny. Try to smudge it a bit, since if you look closely, the black blotches form a "v" in the less darker area on the left of the tree, and I think its quite noticable. I think smudging it a bit would make it look better overall, instead of looking like block shading, which I think irks me the most. The tree is also smaller, so the shadow (is it a shadow?) should reflect that.

Not too bad, but convey some more feeling, emotion or some sort of additional aspect to the image other than just a plan image. Like the one with the clock, giving the impression of passing time or lost time in combination with the dulled out color.

Hey I'm just voicing out my opinion. I still haven't decided who to vote yet >.> I mainly joined this to improve, actually.

Looking nice. Try to get a free raster graphics editor like GIMP!
-
Seriously, did you just brush the ground with a black brush to remove the white outline on the foot? >.>
-
*points to horse/wolf comment* It looks nice for a sketch, but the shading seems very rushed and very messy, but it looks good still. Keep up the good work :)

What irks me is the color mainly. The shades of color don't look very soft or warm, but very "old and dull". I would've probably suggested against color mapping the focal, but nvm. The things on the left and right of the focal (the bit with the red) looks like pixelisation. I know its not, but any person looking at it without knowing what a C4D is is going to believe so >.> What irks me a bit here is a "floating head", whereby you only see the head of an image, with no neck or anything. The composition works, but its a bit creepy on some standards and levels. >.> Right is a bit plain, and lack of flow is causing it to be more plain than usual, yea.... The composition isn't that shabby, but doesn't appeal to me visually very much. -
I agree with the comment on the "added too much". A panda is black and white, so the brighter green around it is a tad distracting. Like the composition though.

Nah, I said that cause I cannot fathom how Jopie's one looks good at any manner. its so messy, complicated, lack of flow.... Bad color hue choice, messy, complicated..... Of course, I would love someone to correct me there, but I really dislike it on the visual appeal, albeit the concept is good. Or maybe that I'm so surprised that I'm second that I want first. >.> Oh well, you win a few, you lose a lot. The other reason is to prevent biased votes, which I see a handful in here (Honestly, more than a handful on somepoint. =/)
-
Wow I'm in second. And I barely tied with Jopie. That is just.... shocking. Never expected that. >.> I also don't like jopie's, but its still hard to know who to vote for.... [joke] Can I vote for myself? :D [/joke] I would appreciate it if a reason was given for the vote, instead of simply stating who you are voting for. Just a heads up.

Ok, Im surprised at the sudden improvement and lack of "you suck" and "work on blah blah blah" comments which I saw previously. Must be cause Thru isn't here. Anyways, back to the images. When working on your first pieces, try to think more so on composition and making something that looks good. Don't overcomplicate things by trying things you are not exceptionally familier with with. GIMP in itself has a lot of filters and a lot of useful ones. I suggest looking at some "Grunge" signature tutorials on how to create effects with brushes. Practice using these brushes and different effects to create backgrounds for your renders. Avoid text unless you did it as a request. Also try to pick up some art terms like rule of thirds, blending, rendering, etc. I personally use GIMP myself, and I have been in the same situation. When you are doing anything (sigs, avatars, banners), an important thing to note is the composition. You do not need C4Ds to make a good tag, nor exceptional skills, but you need a good grasp at how to create and meld effects together to create it. Working on backgrounds is quite hard to start off as, so I suggest reading up on "grunge" tutorials to get a better hang of it. For example, this is one of my earlier pieces of work: [hide=Your eyes will bleed][/hide] Its far from good, and of horrible quality to what I think I can do now, but that was done basically with "Grunge Scratches" brushing. When you look at a render, ask yourself these questions: What is the most obvious color you can see from the render? What is the emotion or feeling given by the render? Is it a warm or hot feeling or a cool and relaxing one? For the above tag, I felt that the most obvious color I could use in the background was red and different hues of it. As such, I picked different shades of red, yellow and orange to add to the background to give it different color and more color without deviating from the main idea of "red". Look through as many tutorials as you can to master learning effects. When you start to understand the tools you have, will you see much more notable improvement. Understand the filters GIMP has and how to use them to your advantage. Look through various pieces of work found on deviantArt or GIMPTalk, or just browse the forums at PlanetRenders or GameRenders for ideas and to see how others did their work. Exposing yourself more to various pieces of work will give you an idea of what you should try to accomplish and provide goals. Don't be afraid to try something new, but work on things one at a time. Try to get the hang of making a "grunge" type signature before moving on to C4Ds and fractals, for example, to get the hang of composition, color choice and the tools available to you. Gimp has an inbuilt fractal flame maker, so use that to your advantage. Utilise blurring and motion blurring. Mapping. Displacement. Etc. If you've never done anything in GIMP before, I suggest going back and working on things like glowing lines and the like to get a hang of using the program. I am not saying that your pieces of work are bad in any way, but when you graner greater grasp at the tools you have, you will find it much easier to improve and much easier to do each piece. Quality over quantity, remember that. Another tip I'll throw out is to diffrentiate between opinion and fact. Not all opinions are good, but not all are inaccurate. In essence, develop your own traits and creativity, and learn to add your own sense and personal touch to your work. Don't copy others, but carve a niche and something for yourself. Ultimately, the only people who will say your work "sucks" is mainly those who know and do tags, but those who do not will not understand how you did it and be amazed and awed by your work (I get that a lot, which is kinda pathetic at times, honestly). Ultimately, doing sigs, tags, avatars or any images should be because you want to, not because you need to. At the very least, be have pride in your work, even if no one else does. -

Excalibur floats my ship! (haha pun...)

Its good, but 2 green capes? Change one perhaps? Not saying its not good, but it seems a little distracting. Love the face! :P

Mathematically not efficient. But if you like to do it then no one is stopping you. Its not too bad experience if you can't make enough in an hour.

Achieving 200 mil exp in all F2P skills IN ONLY F2P WORLDS Don't think that has been achieved.

[X] Signature [ ] Avatar [ ] Banner [ ] PSP background [ ] Desktop Background [ ] Large Piece Size: 400*100 Render/Stock: None Style:Typography Theme: Hmm... Along the lines of art, with a mixture of digital and traditional words thrown into the play. Like brush, paint, stencil, etc, to give a few ideas.

I am loving it so far. Can't wait to see the final outcome!
