[hide=]I know there is already another thread about this this is focusing on another aspect of the game and includes another mini-rant[/hide]Honestly Soul Wars would be better off it we didn't get charms as a reward. You go, you play a mini-game, and you get some charms as a reward. TAKE THIS AWAY. I feel we are headed down a slippery slope in which we will be able to obtain charms through mini-games and not have to do Waterfiends or Slayer. The ONLY way to get charms should be to kill monsters. THE ONLY WAY. I think the chest(s) you can get them from should be removed also.

The only way you should be able to get charms is monster hunting. The only way. Other charms like Pest Control charms are ok.

Pureprayer, you're awesome.

In 20 minutes you can get way more charms killing creatures then you can from the game, so it doesn't really make a difference.

You make it sound like running through a few level 87 monsters is hard which it really shouldn't be at your level.

Its the fact that now we are going down a slippery slope and we will eventually have faster ways then combat for charms.

How does a minigame that gives LESS charms/min make you think we're on a slope towards MORE charms per minute? The whole point of Soul Wars and Stealing Creation is to provide an alternate / fun way to get almost as much of the same exp/reward in 20 minutes as you would grinding on monsters, but not quite as much.

It takes ten hours to get 29 blue charms. Call me loony, but it doesn't seem quite, ehhh, efficient?

Still alive, still alive.

We are on this slope because we will start to get more minigames with charm rewards.

Summoning should be the ONE skill you cant buy nor get from chests/minigames other then slayer.

Pureprayer, you're awesome.

Your rant kind of went down the slippery slope the moment you started talking about your predictions.

Just because Jagex made a minigame which gives (very little) charms as a reward, doesn't mean that they're plotting to produce more efficient ways of getting charms -.-

IMO, you worry too much.

Yes I agree. Summoning is a combat skill, and therefore should only be trained through combat-which would be killing monsters for charms. Otherwise, there is no difference between summoning than, let's say, Construction.

The question here is not the efficiency of the rate of charm gathering, but instead the morals behind which the skill is trained. Summoning is a combat skill, and as far as I understand someone could just walk into Soul Wars, do very little combat, get zeal points, and buy charms.

So what if they can train it that way? They could also train it through genie lamps or TOG. It''s their loss if they are stupid enough to try and get them through this game.

Well right now this sucks for charms but if we keep getting minigames with charm rewards it will almost defeat the purpose of summoning.

How so? As long as they don't beat regular charm methods it won't change anything. And judging by the way PC went, Jagex neither plans to escalate minigame XP rewards or even make them worth using at all.

Its mostly the fun factor. You can be a level 136-138 running around with an Ags killing off all the lower levels and getting charms. Its like clan wars with a charm reward.

So it's a 'fun' minigame with a small XP bonus? Doesn't seem like too much of a threat or an indication of ubierly powered XP giving minigames that will ruin summoning in the future.

I just hope summoning stays the non buyable, expensive, "skill you kill monsters to get", but very useful skill.

Yes, because everything that came after pest control gave uber XP rewards, increasing each minigame.

In amounts too small to be worth doing, like every other worthless minigame.

does that mean that runescape will go down this "slippery slope" where we [god save us!!!!] get charms from minigames or other ways?

what if i wanted to train summoning but i'm tierd of killing cockroaches/fire giants? there is literally no other way for me to get any other charms other than chaos tunnels or monster killing. it's monotonous! shouldn't you complain about pest control giving combat experience? i mean the point of training strength is through killing things, not minigames.

as the freak mentioned before, what about if people use tears of guthix, penguin points, or genie lamps on the skill? does that make them worse or better? if they're better than what about the skill they got the experience in?

what if i'm level 126 and i have every combat skill maxed except summoning. i'm tierd of killing stuff now and i want to just play whatever else runescape has to offer. i notice a minigame that i love. i get the option of charms and i'm not intent on efficiancy, but rather having fun and enjoying the different features soul wars has to offer. this game is my way of getting away from the power skilling and having to train every skill to an amazing level. here, i can relax and know that even though i'm "procrastinating" from getting more charms, i know that the rewards are worth it enough for me so that i can be happy.

isn't that what it's all about?

Wow, watching this thread is better than pro wrestling! =D>

This thread is probably better than pro wrestling because the fights here are real (And the boobs).

So your logic is...

1. Jagex released a minigame that gives fewer charms than ordinary combat.

2. ???

3. Minigames will soon be the only way to train summoning!!1!

-.-

Forgot the part about "PROFIT"

I just dont like the Idea of charms from minigames. I would be 100% ok if it was experience (its just me im "off"). The only way you should be able to get charms is through monster hunting. I think with this game we might have a "pest control" with charm type rewards that you can just do half-assed and get charms.

I just dont like the idea that special students get to post up senseless rants that make no sense what so ever, but people still do it anyways.

Just because there is another avenue of receiving charms does not make it the end of the world. But if it means that much to you, I will write Jagex a letter or something and of course they will listen to us as we band together to defeat the infidels and make Summoning a Kill monster only skill.

Dear Jagex,

As my "esteemed" colleague has wished, probably on a genie lamp he just got, we would like to make Summoning a kill monster only skill. That means you should recode all your free exp methods incapable of supplying Summoning exp. These methods are to include, Tears of Guthix Mini-game, Genie lamps, book of knowledge, other exp lamps, and any other method that I may have overlooked, such as that new mini-game Soul Wars. So please, I beg of you, for the sake of world peace and taco tuesdays, to make Summoning a kill monster only skill.

Charms from minigames are good.

You can train prayer without combat, why shouldn't you be able to train summoning (abeit unbieliviababbeelylylylylylyyyyyy slowwwwllylyyyyyyy)

O.O

OK, as comp freak stated, although there are charms being given out as rewards, the rates of which they are obtained is too small too worry about. Another thing I would like to point out is to the person/people saying they want summoning to stay a non buyable skill. Are you stupid? Getting the charms is only a part of it. You still need a hefty sum of cash to buy enough shards etc I see no problem with awarding charms! All the charms do is allow you the "opportunity" to get summoning xp. However, without the secondary ingredients and shards.....they are worthless!

Since it's a combat minigame and they rate of charms is so slow, I see no problem with it.

I love to meet people; send me a pm if you see me on RuneScape! :)

As stated above, it's much faster to go and slay monsters for charms than to play SW for very little charms.
