bamboopro
So as a level 73 miner I should be able to successfully outmine someone with 53 mining? Right? Wrong. Just 5 minutes before I made this topic I was getting completely dominated by someone with 53 mining. For christs sake, that is 19 levels below me. I mean, if he were just getting the occasional ore here and there I would be fine with it... but this guy... he was getting everything. Hell, by the time I started the mining animation the ore was already gone and he'd moved on to the second. He was just moving way to fast for me to even have a chance. Who knows... maybe jagex just hates people who put time into this skill and decides to screw them over. Keep in mind this isn't a one time thing. Countless times I've been outmined by people with 20+ levels below me and countless times I've managed to outmine people with 80+ mining. Unfair, I tell you. So feel free to share your opinions and thoughts. Hopefully I'm not alone on this. P.S My internet connection is fine. I wasn't lagging when any of these instances occured. P.S.S I suppose I should mention this was iron ore I was mining.

Just like to point out that that is 20 levels lower. But I agree with you, higher level SHOULD = better chance, too bad better luck next time, though. #KERR2016/17/18/19/20/21. #rpgformod
Sir_Kurity
Mining levels should probably have more effect on how fast you mine ore. On the other hand, low levels need a chance to, so they need to have "some" chance. O.O
Fasty
Since you were mining Iron Ore..I see your problem. The person with 53 Mining was simply quicker than you were. If you were faster, you'd be getting the ores. In Iron Ore Mining, all you need is a Runite Pick and have a quick internet connection or reflexes. If a level 41 miner is faster than a level 99 miner, the 41 will be getting all of the Iron Ores. However, if you tried this with Coal, I can almost guarantee that you'll be beating out that level 53 miner a majority of the time. Tim
That is a bit odd but no higher levels should NOT have the priority, they should however have a much higher chance of getting the ore. if it was judged by level, lower players trying to get such things as coal would be painful as, and they'd never level up or produce the amount they want to use or sell, litterally killing the leveling process of mining. How about instead of higher chance, less time to mine it? As your mining level goes up, the maximum amount of time to mine an ore decreases. This allows for lower level players to still beat you out, but the rarity of it happening increases with the magnitude of level increasing. I have to say though, I've had this happen to me, except I was the low player, and there was another high player - They had 75 mining, and we were going for mithril. For some reason, I pretty much always got it. I don't know why, but I made sure to keep my mouth shut about it. 99 dungeoneering achieved, thanks to everyone that celebrated with me! ♪♪ Don't interrupt me as I struggle to complete this thoughtHave some respect for someone more forgetful than yourself ♪♪♪♪ And I'm not doneAnd I won't be till my head falls off ♪♪

Bloodkay
Meh. Just move to another rock? I mean, the guy's obviously a complete jerk if he's mining the rock you're mining at in the first place. Unless it's something like addy or mith... Like others have said, high levels can't always get the ore or they'd dominate mining. Taking a Playstation 3 break.
Sir_Kurity
Yea just thought of that... Iron is pretty much instant mine for anyone about 50. So its all about reflexes. Higher level ores, you will definitely see a diffrence. O.O
mister_moocky
Iron takes such little time to mine, it probably has more to do with reflexes, your connection, and your world then your level. It's like comparing 80 attack against 99 attack while killing chickens. quit
Zaaps1
He's 20 levels below you, not 19...not that that must've helped you or anything...but just thought you should know that. It's annoying. I've had my fair share of it too. A great way to solve this is to pause mining for about 4 rocks. Concentrate on just mining the ore in 1 rock. Once you successfully do that, you have what I like to call the "initiative". That is, you now have the advantage for all the consecutive rocks until he gets one, at which time he has the initiative. Of course, your reflexes may not have been fast enough. Not saying your's are bad, just that his might just be better (assuming connection is the same). Every millisecond counts for iron. So distance from the server may also be a factor. I'm just speculating on this one though. Lastly, if you're p2p, consider switching to granite. Less competition and better experience. ~It's Super Effective!
