I do have $25, I'd just rather spend my money something more useful, like 5 more months of subscription or some itunes songs, not just solely on changing a name. Don't assume my age merely because I think $25 is a fairly large amount of money to be spending on a name.

I can just see Zezima and Yogosun changing names for a day...

i doubt jagex ever will, even if it were possible.

 

even so i dont think that they should, in life we must live with our choices, so something as simple as your name, people should put some consideration into it.

If anyone wants to change their name, trust me...It is me...I was a stupid little kid when I made this account and I would full on take advantage of this if it ever happened.

i think of the price of about £10 is reasonable, stops people completely abusing the name changing system.

 

 

 

As for people saying friends changing names is confusing, people all over the world on different games can handle this complex situation of a friend name changing, not too hard to say them "Hi, Who is this?" im sure you would find out quite quickly.

Too complicated. If a player creates an account (s)he chooses an username, they'll have to live with their choice.

I can't really see how not knowing who friends are is a problem - if they were on your list in the first place then you know they're a friend, so all you need to do is ask them. Friends and ignore lists wouldn't need to be broken because the names on them could change automatically, if the player actually changes them. Sure this will mess up ignore lists for people who use it as a memo pad, I do myself but it wouldn't be too difficult to just copy down the contents onto Notepad.

 

 

 

And name changing of at least some sort has been confirmed by Jagex on their official Twitter. Quote: "We have a project launching this summer that to allow all players more freedom with their names, including them being changeable". :thumbup:

I think we should only be allowed to change our username if we are able to send notifications automatically to everyone on our friend list by using the Message system that RuneScape has. If they were to send notifications as soon as people logged on then they might not see it and forget. However, changing your username could cause alot of chaos also.

I was thinking something like warnings. He would gain a warning and the next ban he got would increase the blackmarks by 10%. If people gained enough warnings they have a reason not to get banned really.

It'd be nice for some people who hate their usernames, but it would create a lot of confusion when you see a random name on your friends list. Plus, if you've lived with it this long, a few more years won't hurt :P

Second of all, you played so long on your account with the same name, why would you NOW want to change your name, couldn't you changed at the beginning when you were level 30 combat or less?

 

 

 

Third of all, stop buzzing Jagex about this thing ... If I were a Jagex Moderator, I would just tell you to create a new account if you're not happy with your name, because you're not going to make Jagex pass through a huge refresh of all the accounts of Runescape just because Mister or Ma'am ( Or whatever you want to call it. ) created a account with a name they didn't like ...

I think name changes should cost something from 5-20 dollars. And for a few months (1 or 2?) after the change your old name should be in brackets beside your new name.

 

 

 

As i see it, IF they can change names with ease, why not do it, gives jagex a bit of money, and makes the player happy.

Well I use to want to be able to change them with an old account. I had a range pure who I believe was 87 range when I quit and pretty low combat, kicked butt in old wildy. But there were spaces in the name...multiple ones so it made some stuff hard, like back then selling on the forums was impossible with the name. I quit that account now, so it's not really an issue for me anymore - but I can see why some people would still want to change their name. I only wanted a name change back then for 'practical reasons' and for that, I think you should be able to. But for just 'because I want to' .....i'm not so sure if people should be able to on that.

I've played multiple games with name changing options (for a minimal fee), and it doesn't mess up anything of the sort.

 

 

 

If you're looking through your friends list and see someone you don't remember adding, how hard is it to message them saying, "Hey, who is this?" If they don't reply, ask them later, and if it's not even worth it, then delete them. WHOOP DE DOO. How does that ruin a friends' list. If you have friends, they should talk to you, and along the way it should probably brought up that, "Hey, I'm changing my RS name."

 

 

 

How does it mess up the highscores? "ZOMG WHO IS "PWNAGERIFFIX242" I THOUGHT "BANANAMANARAMA42" WAS HIGHEST!" Seriously? Wtfux.

 

 

 

People change over time, and can want to change their name. Something that sounded cool when you were 13 can sound completely idiotic when you're older.
