tehravenx
Just a question for all of you out there. I kind of want to change my username because it's something kind of random and a mistake I picked it. Although, if we were able to change our names I think it should only and obviously be usernames that aren't already registered or not in your ownership. Just my thoughts but, I want to hear all of yours. So, please post!
mmmcannibalism
it is an interesting idea, but I think the technical problems prevent it from being feasible. Moneyna
I'm not sure about this idea, think from players side , okay your friend changed his nickname (let's say once again err) and you have to remove his old name from the friend list and (yet again) add his new one. If jagex will want to do this idea they will need lots of work then on the nickname changing. And it would be harder for new players to find nicknames that can be used. Abc1230
Who is rgxt44? Deleted. (rgxt44 was your friend ury86g) Oh well. You deleted all of your friends. This would also negate the effect of the ignore list. Think before you post dumb ideas like this. YouTube
Roseiah
I really would like to change my user name. I create a name, I like it for a while, and then I just get bored of it and want something better. However, I think it may be too hard to do, and could create a few problems. I'd love it if it came out and had no kinks, but I'd rather it never came out than come out and create problems. 3hitm4g3u
Who is rgxt44? Deleted. (rgxt44 was your friend ury86g) Oh well. You deleted all of your friends. This would also negate the effect of the ignore list. Think before you post dumb ideas like this. Not at all. It would be like a forum username (although not tip.it as they don't allow name changes). On a forum you have a base name, the one you log in with (mine is 3hitm4g3u yours is abc1230). The next thing is a display name, which is what would be changed. You would still be logging in with your old details, So if I changed my RSN from Yo I O W N U to Pie I would still put in Yo I O W N U at the log in screen, but when I logged in people would see my name as pie. The same way as how on here (Tip.it) if an Admin was to change my name (which they have the power to do) I would still have to log in as 3hitm4g3u but everyone would see my name as whatever I had it changed to. If you had added someone to your ignore list it would add their display name, which would change as they changed it. Same with your friends list. If you had rgxt44 added to your friends list and he changed his name the next time you logged in you would see his new username in your friends list, just like the person in your ignore list. Jagex would probably also heavily regulate it, allowing only a few name changes.
Makoto_the_Phoenix
There are technical limitations to prevent this already, but even if it was possible, I don't think it should happen. It goes to show that we should always make conscious choices (even if it was EONS ago) about what our moniker should be. Bauke
If it's possible, I'd very much like it. 8 years ago, Lord Bunkie was cool, now it's not.. at all. I'd change my name right away. I do remember Jagex saying that it would be possible in the future, but that was a simple comment from a J mod, I think. I hope they'll be working on it. Kirudaymi
I'd love to be able to change my name, as it was made a few years ago when I was a fair bit younger. But meh, I don't think it will happen and a lot of people don't think it should happen due to technical limitations or whatever.
Shazarabbit
I don't think people should be allowed to change their username, it would create issues with people stalking players etc (Yes it's happened!) Not to mention people the scamming that could go on etc. I think a better idea would be to use the log on system Wow and most other mmorpg's have. You have an account name. Which can say have a max of five accounts or so. Then you have different usernames for each of those accounts under the account username. This might enable users to change their names etc. But the data might become an issue when it needs to update information on Jagex's servers with the change of the names. Tim
Easy Solution, (Because I REALY Want a Name Change) Before the option is realised (example here), ALL current Usernames have an imbedded "Core Name/Number". Whenever it changes, others that may be on a friends list will change with it. So say I had Bob123 In my list. The name would automatically change with it, but there'd still be some sort of ID on their Real Username so you still dont wonder, "Who the hell are you?" Clan Chats though, bit of a problem. I know I'd Change my Username to my real name: Sir Tim C. (If its not taken alreay) Popoto.~<
Negativerain
If you think about this in the manner of a harrassed person. Allowing someone to change their username would un-ignore them. They could do it all day, reports wouldn't work because they'd just change their name which would then create an alternate filing system for the character. I don't think it should be allowed, like...ever. Too many immature and idiotic people still on RS. If this was a community where people didn't treat others like trash, then sure, but it's not. Negativerain
I know I'd Change my Username to my real name: Sir Tim C. (If its not taken alreay) You'd be breaking the rules, and they'd either force you to make a new character, or re-change your name. Not allowed to have your real name (any part) in your character name.

[Your user name] should not contain your real name, birth date, or other personally identifiable information, to better protect your identity. Now, unless you willingly provide that information out to others (which IS in fact a violation of the rules), no one can confirm whether or not that's your real name. For instance, "Makoto" is a valid Japanese name, but no one can guess whether or not that's my real name. ;) Linux User/Enthusiast | Full-Stack Software Engineer | Stack Overflow Member | GIMP User...Alright, the Elf City update lured me back to RS over a year ago.
