Range_This11
I'll be using it for Slayer (Lvl 91). Which should I buy, or should I save more for a higher GS? danetello
I would get a DFS + whip over a BGS. DFS + whip is faster and is one handed so you'd be able to use a mirror shield or whatever slayer equipment you'd need.
Phrost
Godswords are terrible for slaying. My reccomendation is that you use whip+defender and save the cash until you can buy sgs. You can switch to sgs specs while slaying and it's useful in gwd and barrows, don't know if you do these though.
Dexek
Definitely the DFS. Godswords are only useful for their special attack, and the Bandos Godsword's use is limited to PvP (with energy restore) and solo'ing the Bandos boss. If you want fast experience/kills definitely stick with an Abyssal Whip and throw on the DFS for a nice defence bonus. A rune defender will also work well seeing as your defence is already high and the attack/str bonuses from the defender will aid in faster experience. If you don't already have bandos armour I would suggest on that. The DFS is nice and quite cost effective for the extra defence it provides. If you like you could save for a SGS or AGS, but they really don't have as much use to a player with your stats unless you plan on killing some bosses/PvP/Duels. As far as slaying goes you're better off with a whip for most tasks. You might want a Sara Sword or Zammy Spear for those Waterfiends, though. Happy slaying. : PoetryIndexed Picture 1Indexed Picture 2 Killed my maxed Zerker pure April 2010 Rebooting Runescape
Range_This11
Thanks for the replies, and yes, I do already have full Bandos. Aside from boots, of course. Right now my set up is: Slayer Helm Whip+Defender Fury ROW Bandos Tassets+Chestplate Dragon Boots Barrows Gloves "He could climb to it, if he climbed alone, and once there he could suck on the pap of life, gulp down the incomparable milk of wonder." Dexek
That is about the best setup you can get. Although you might want to switch the ROW for the Warrior Ring (underrated). Unless of course you feel the ROW helps with the drops. I personally have had better luck without it and enjoy the attack bonus and cheap cost of the Warrior Ring. Johannas
The only good godsword for slayer is the SGS - any well establised slayer will tell you that. Don't waste your money on any other godsword. Personally i prefer DFS and whip, then i use either dragon claws or a dds for specials. If i think i wont be able to finish a task in one trip then i take an SGS. Just use an SGS for all fairly decent monsters. Thank you to tripsis for an awesome sig!
sadukar123
Certain tasks a GS is a must, like Dark Beasts, but they are rare and far between. If you can afford to buy both, do so. If not, stick with Whip+Defender. DFS is not needed for 90% of tasks. llamster
Neither of those are good for slayer. Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:

pureprayer
How about, sell bandos, buy torags, and get a whip + rune defender and put the rest into an sgs fund? Pureprayer, you're awesome.

With F2P you will never reap the benefits of summoning. I have no idea where you base your opinions on. With Firemaking, prayer, magic, construction, herblore, smithing you'll never see the money again. This thread is also veering off topic.... he wanted to know what to buy (A BGS or DFS) for slayer purposes. So back on topic... Whip is better because it's faster, especially at your melees. It will speed up slayer exp and combat exp. So wearing a one handed weapon is better, plus you have the bonus of a sheild. People generally only use godswords for boss hunting/pvp combat. Can you sell back summoning levels? I don't think so. Being F2P has nothing to do with it. And yes I'm aware of how benificial summoning is in the long run. When i was refering to f2p, i meant that you have no 'hands on' experience with summoning. And you can't "see that money" again with other buyable skills, like i stated. However you can have the benefit of better monsters to summon.... Unlike firemaking just to name one example. :XD: Why don't i just report myself? Thank you to tripsis for an awesome sig!
