Well i just got a new comp and havent been on one since start of feb and so i just bought this new comp which specs are

2.5 ghz dual core

2gb ram

512mb nvidia video

160 gb hd

8 channel sound

first of i need help with how my comp starts, when i turn it on it automatically logs in now the problem i have is i dont know how to make it so you actually need to type the password in which i already made one. the reason i want to do this is coz my cousins will stuff my comp up and they're sneaky and go on it when im at work, so far i have made 2 other users but ti still logs on to the main account

the next thing is i wanna test my comps full power, the most ive ever had was a

1gb

2.8 ghz amd

256mb video

and that was about 4 year old comp and i havent played really any game

that has come out since sims 2

so what is a good game thats out and requires decent specs

pref not sports or racing

(XP)Start - controlpanel - user accounts - change an account - you - create a password.

Vista - same principal.

Could you tell me what components you got? 2.5ghz dual, 512mb graphics card doesn't tell me much. Tell me the names of them.

(start button+r - "dxdiag" - copy what it says at system - cpu, screen - name).

You need to post what the actual specs are.

2.5 ghz dual core

2gb ram

512mb nvidia video

160 gb hd

8 channel sound

Any of those parts could be atleast 5 different actual parts.

RSHD won't be a problem, and some older games should be playable too on lower resolution.

The biggest problem is your gpu, it's too weak for any new games. So if you'd like to play some newer games, a new graphics card is your only choice.

Graphics processing unit. Your pc might be 3 days old, and yes Nvidia is a good brand, but the graphics chip is too weak. I.E., it doesn't have enough power to play a game like COD4 at a decent frame rate. The chip is about 20months old (7900gtx is even older (march 06) but is much more powerful and still able to play new games at a decent fps).

So, if you had planned to play COD4 and other games, your only choice is a new graphics card. Otherwise, you won't have to do anything.

I can't remember which country your from, but you should be able to get a decent graphics card for about £100 [$130USD] (over kill for runescape, but enough to play every game you could want at the moment)

Uh? They still sell old Pentium cpus?

if you paid more than $400 for that computer, that's a ripoff.

Its a E5200 #-o

They're only a few years old and if I remember rightly just a low grade Core 2 Duo.

Start-> Control Panel -> Users

Set up a password and another user account for your cousins if you wish.

As always back up your registry before making any changes - you CAN damage stuff if you don't follow my instructions correctly.

Start -> Run -> regedit

Navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

On the right you should see a key called DefaultPassword, right click it and delete it.

You should also see one called AutoAdminLogon, double click it and change the value to 0 if it's not already 0.

Make sure you know your account password before you restart.

Reboot.
