SGS: Worth it?

Featured Replies

Simple question... Is the SGS worth getting if you have the money, or is it just another expensive weapon that is useless? (I will mainly be using it for slayer and GWD)

Please do not post a simple "yes" or "no", give some form of a reason ::'

Pureprayer, you're awesome.

it's definatly worth it if you can afford it, if your only gonna be left with a few mil i wouldn't buy it but if you have a large sum of money left over it would be good, the specs really help healing when a bunyip can't fully keep up and the pray restore aspect of the special allows you to use piety or anyother prayer for some of the task which would definatly speed things up

Yes, it combined with a bunny will save you from having to use any food on most slayer tasks. It may even save you from having to use a bunny.

Any godsword is also very useful at bosses, as from most credible people I've heard it's better than whip and rune defender where accuracy counts more than speed.

My skin is finally getting soft
I'll scrub until the damn thing comes off

YESS!!!!

Slayer gets at least 5 times easier with it. You can do so much with it.

Black demons w/o prayer

Longer time at Waterfiends

No-food almost all of Sumona's tasks (and logically, all the masters below Sumona)

No-food a good chunk of Duradel's tasks (ex: Bloodvelds, Greaters, Gargolyes, etc.)

Ability to use superhuman strength all the time w/ less than half the ppots required otherwise (remember that it restores prayer even if you don't want it to, but might as well pray)

Ability to brag and show off at populated Slayer tasks like Kalphites. (Don't laugh, you know you'll do it. I did.)

At boss monsters, I personally think you'd be better off with a BGS or AGS there, but I can see that it could be useful at DKS or GWD as well.

No it's not. Slayer can be done with bunyip and a few pieces of food in your invent. Only bosses you'll find it's spec more useful than the others are dk and sara gw.

What?

I say yes, it's worth it.

I sold A TON of things to get it (I'm still trying to make back enough money to get armour and such back), but it's proven itself to be very worth it. My main pastimes are usually barrows and monster hunting (on hiatus until I build back up my supply of armour), and it's amazing in those situations. When I first tried it at Barrows and managed runs where I managed to pray on all 6 brothers without using a single dose of prayer potion, I knew it was useful. Then I used it at waterfiends and managed to do so well that I didn't even need to pray against range for a huge amount of time. I could easily go 10 minutes between doses of prayer potion.

If you can find 49 million that you don't need (don't end up selling so much that you're without decent armour, trying to make money by barrowing in full rune and using a godsword -- just doesn't look right) and do a lot of player vs. monster activities, get it.

If you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.

I use a bunyip at waterfiends and I never have to pray ranged (although I use piety, so if I still had my SGS I'd bring it down for free prayer.)

For Slayer, it's a nice add-on, but you don't really need it. Obviously if you managed to get 40-or-something-million GP then you can get yourself a lot more healing methods (Bunyip, a Guthan set, to name a few).

In the GWD dungeon it's a different story, restoring both the stats you eat up the most, although, again, in 2/3 melee boss chambers you can do just fine with a cheaper GS and a Fruit Bat (+) familiar.

Yeah I agree, at Sara GWD I don't really use my SGS much, its like dead weight.
