With Herblore, the only way to really not make a loss is either: 1. Farm Your Own Herbs 2. Gather your own secondaries (you will still lose money, just not as much) 3. If you don't want to do that, and just want to train it, then you'll have to calculate the gp/xp for a few potions to find out which potion is the most cheap. Much cheaper than 10+ gp/xp for other options. Thieveing = Pyramid Plunder. Not sure how well those sell though. For thieving, I personally really liked sorceress' garden. 90k xp/hour and not as boring as other training methods imo.
