Health bars or regeneration?

I've never really liked the "Sit behind a rock and jerk it while regaining health" thing. It's alright for the games it is for, but I definately would hate to see it incorporated in Splinter Cell or GTA.

You guys do realize a sniper is a power weapon right?

run into 2 guys and you didn't have some sort of huge advantage over them (like a power weapon)

My friend, who does play MLG customs, can go pretty clutch sometimes and take on two or three opponents at once, with just a BR. It's just being able to utilize the map and objects to your advantage, I.E. on Guardian in Snipe tower, that one ledge (And fusion coil) can be very useful for a player that knows how to use them.

That is just the same as CoD4, unless you get lucky, or are very skilled, a fight again two or more skilled opponents will result in a quick death for you. Also, I wouldn't say sniper is that much of a power weapon. It's nothing like rockets or a Sword, it still takes skill to use.

There's no such thing as regret. A regret means you are unhappy with the person you are now,

and if you're unhappy with the person you are, you change yourself. That

regret will no longer be a regret, because it will help to form the new,

better you. So really, a regret isn't a regret.

It's experience.

That's true. But coming up clutch like that isn't easy...it's not like you can constantly take on 2-3 people at the same time and win. But yes, doing something tricky or excellent grenade use can nab you a double/triple kill every now and then...just not consistently.

i like regen better, like in cod.

theres also some-what health bar with online hardcore, because health dosnt regen and you have lower health

imo health bar games arnt nearly as good online, as people are most concerned about health or finding med packs or w/e, and its just not as fun battles imo

Some games just flat-out wouldn't work with health regen i.e. TF2.

I think it suits different games.

Timesplitters Future Perfect was a Health bar game and that worked incredibly well. I can't describe how they did it but they did. The online was so good and finding health/ armour didn't detract from the game. If this had regen half the skill would have been taken out (so many people would have just camped).

However something like Gears of War is about fast tactics and positioning more so it suits regen rather than having to run around getting a medpack. There's no risk of people just camping because if they do they usually lose all the power weapons and get owned.

It depends on the nature of the game.

Yeah...Some people just go out of their way to ruin other peoples fun.
Sounds like Jagex to me...

This.

If the game is a tactical, where everyone is always on the same playing field, then health bars are good. However, with games like Halo and Gears of War, where gameplay is slightly less tactical, and more geared towards your weapons, then regen comes in. Also, I think it should be mentioned that it is possible to have health 'bars' in a Halo custom game - you can just turn off shield regeneration (Or turn off shields, increase damage resistance, turn on immunity to headshots).
