Regarding herb farming: it doesn't really take much time to raise it to the required levels.

And for some it is actually fun: the challenge of raising your stat so you can do something productive.

give it a try.

well out of all of the high income skillz: hunter, mining, fishing, wood cutting i would have to say that mining is the best choice because only need lvl 85 (power mine iron or granite and it goes by fast) and you can be mining rune and it is a reliable source of income and relatively low lvl to get high incomes.

ONLY 85. :P Lots of people find that an incredible challenge in mining. Mining certainly isn't the most popular skill. :P Getting the wc level for yews, hunting level for red chins, or fishing level for monks is much easier. :P

To the thread creator: Sounds like you buy your food, and probably other things along that line. Have you ever tried being self-supportive? By that I mean fishing and cooking your own fish (or even fishing fish, selling it, and buying the cheaper cooked fish, though you lose out on valuable exp like that), making your own potions if you use them (only if you farm the herbs though), and crafting your own runes. Maybe you don't have the levels for that now, but if you get those levels, you can start doing things you enjoy (like slayer) with no cost to you, just the effort to gather and prepare those supplies. Saves you a lot of money, adds some variety to your Runescape day, and you get a lot more overall exp and levels!

6-7 years... how old are you exactly? shouldn't you be able to think for yourself?

its simple, if your losing money doing something and your not getting anything out of it, then stop doing it.

in 6 years of playing you should at least have some basic sources of income.

ever heard of flipping? kingdom management? farming? runecrafting? godwars? wcing? breathing?
