decorated weapons/armour

Featured Replies

I think once you get a high enough smithing and crafting lvl, you should be able to decorate your armour and weapons with gem stones. Obviously the better you are in smithing and crafting, the better your decorations become. I think that would be a nice change from the normal look of armour.

Well we already have trimmed, gold and gilded, which is alot like what you said, but i still like this idea. crafting and smithing are both skills that are lacking in low-mid lvl stuff, and this would help make the skills better. I dont see exatly how it would work tho...would you take a bronze pl8, then use it with a sapphire? and would be able to do all pieces of the armour (helm, legs, shield, etc) and all the gems? this would create alot more diversity...maybe too much...but i still like it.

Though then people would try to scam out of most cases, even if it said. "Rune Plate (d)" People could goto noobs and tell them, "Selling rare gem plate 600 k" When really they only put in maybe 10k max of work into it..if thats even possible.

Pretty good idea :) and you should be able to put more than one gem in there. maybe like 3 per item?

Ooh shiny jewels in armor :) Sounds good to me, as long as it doesn't result in scams it's fine with me

Sounds good! I can just imagine... full black ®(that's ruby for all u guys that couldn't figure that out by yourselves). That would own!

Lol and if u got hit 2 many time the jewel would shatter

I was kinda thinking that you would use a hammer to smash a cut gem into bits, use the bits with the ore(and a furnace), get a gem studded bar, then make whatever with it :) , then if you had a high enough magic lvl, you could enchant the armour/weapon(not that it would do very much).

i allways wanted a sword wih a ruby in the chaft.

i just think it would be cool to see different, glittering, sparkleing suits of armour. it would deffenitly add some diversity to the normal solid color of the armour/weapon. the solid color of armour does get boring after a while, . it would also be a new way to make money for those crafters/smithers.

I think it whould be a good idea if you could cut gold bars (with a knife)

and mke gold dust witch could be used to make many thing lke trimmed gold armour or gold gloves and boots

If you have a high enough strength..............then you could cut the gold bars with a knife.

Well perhaps around 90-99str...

btw i wast worying bout str...the knife would probably break eh?

Isn't gold a very soft metal? Perhaps if you used it with a furnace while having a knife in your inventory. Psshhh, gold's a very weak metal. Like a lvl 20 (melee based warrior) at Castlewars.

I'm doubtful that you could "cut" gold with a knife despite it's being a soft metal but even if you cut it, it'd be chunks, not dust. I have no idea how they make gold dust irl but my guess would be that special machinery grinds the gold into powder.

Anyway, I think the gemmed armor is a good idea, would provide some extra variety and a new way for smithers and crafters to make some extra money.

It could also help those less experienced smithers and crafters gain more exp points. It kinda gets hard to advance in the levels after a while, and your stuff doesn't sell for much. I think it's great because it offers a variety. You always see the same color armour, it would be nice to see new decorations on the stuff, and it would probably look better too. :)

It's possible to cut gold with a knife. It's so soft you can even chew it with your teeth. Although I haven't had the luxury to do so...8)

IRL you thin the gold out to about where the thickness is about 0.0003mm. Gold is a VERY flexible material, which makes it possible to do so. Then they put the sheet of gold into a grinder. Viola. Gold Dust.

My idea for gems in armor..

There would be 5 slots of gems for plates, 3 for legs are kites and so on. You can put any kind of gem in the slots, and each gem would provide a distinct bonus. Such as saphires would add a magic defence bonus, emeralds would add a melee defence bonus, rubies would provide a strength bonus.. And so on.

The gem-slotted armor would be shown as "(Type of metal) plate (d)". By examining it, you can see which gems are slotted.

Each time you slot a gem in a piece of armor, you must enchant it to make it's effect come into place. The enchantment spells already installed can be altered to fit this purpose.

My 0.02$. ;)

What I wouldn't want is that eventually people are ONLY going to make dragon chains with enchanted dragonstones, and all else would be basicly considered crap.

i think that the slot idea is a good one, but i think you should only be able to put gems in the slots when you smith them. and i think that you should only be able to put in 1 kind of gemstone. otherwise it would get too confusing to have, for example, iron platebody of magic, defence, attack, and so on. and on the enchant spell, it should only take 1 enchanting. and for those things that take 1 bar, i think u should have to smash the gem first, because the stone might be bigger that the object itself.

that would be a good idea. everything that could apply to the gold bars/gems could apply to the silver bars/gems. but everyone would have to know that u can only make thye armour that way, u cant do anything to it afterward.

  • Author

what would be really cool would be if u could have gold or silver armour. it wouldn't do very much to protect u, but it would look cool. then u could put the gems in it and it could become very valueable. i dont know how high of a lvl u would have to be to wear it though. maybe instead of haveing to be so high in smithing, maybe u would have to be so high in crafting  .
