Dragon Hatchet vs. Stealing Creation Hatchet

No, you're better saving the hatchets for smithing or crafting.

Not really

playing sc and getting 3 axes an hour (60 reward pts) is like getting 60k wc xp an hour. So while playing sc and having fun, I'm getting 60k wc xp an hour (if I actually go out and use my axes). With smithing it's 90k, but smithing is a bit faster to train than wc'ing anyway. On the other hand, with smithing you save money.

No, it'll take you another hour to use those 3 axes at teaks, so basically you spend 2 hours for 30k xp. Smithing is a true win-win, hammers save you time and money :P

Yes, but it'll also take some time to use the hammers.

As I see it, I play this game for fun (and a bit for the tools). Afterwards, if I decide to train wcing, I can use those axes and itll be as if my sc playing time has gained me 60k wc xp an hour (each axe lasts for 40k xp, so that's 20k extra xp per axe.

If I decide to train smithing, it will be as if I gained 90k smith xp per hour at sc + I save money.

So yes, smithing is better cause it's a money saver, but I enjoy the sc wc axe too cause wc is so slow to train and 60k per hour while having fun is very decent.

Bedman was right. You spend one hour getting the axes, then one hour getting double xp. So in twice the time, you get twice the xp. Doesn't buy you anything unless you really hate wc.

Except you aren't limited to 60k wc xp per hour. You can get upwards of 80k on teaks.

You use up the hammers REALLY quickly, especially with Adamant platebodies.

at what price? Paying constant attention and boring the hell out of yourself. I'd much, much rather get 60k xp while playing a fun game like sc.

Mm, I see your point, but teaks still get over 60k if you don't pay too much attention.

Point remains that it's better spent on smithing. If you get 60k xp per hour in wc, and 90k xp per hour in smithing, you'd get 120k and 180k respectively with the SC tool. To me, that seems like a big enough difference to make smithing the better option.

Plus at teaks when you bank to get another axe, it takes much longer than smithing, then it's literally almost no time spent.

Just to add something, I play with SC Claymates when I do play, so it's more than 3 tools per hour. The games last about 13 minutes, and I usually get 21-23 points per game.

I don't know about you, but I don't get that much. With mouse keys and forum browsing, I got an average of 60k xp/hour or something as a max.

No. That 60k xp is double xp, so it'll take you 30 minutes to use at 60k xp/hour (yeah in my other post I was wrong too). Say it takes 45 minutes for 3 sc games doing noncombat xp, it will still take you 1 hour and 15 minutes to get 60k xp, which is slower than just using a dragon hatchet.

About the hammers. Let's assume I'm normal and play sc on the official world, at a rate of about 60 sc points/hour, which I can use to buy 3 hammers. Those hammers will get me a total of 192k double xp. I'm going to use them to smith addy bolts, of which I can make around 1.2k/hour or 75k xp/hour. It will take me another 1.5 hours to use hammers. That makes a total of 2.5 hours for 192k xp, or 77k xp/hour. Using a normal hammer, I would have gotten 75k xp/hour, at double the cost and nearly double the actual smithing time.

Of course, if you do non combat sc, it only gets better.

60k isnt the double xp, 120k is the double xp (each axe lasts for 40k xp at willows, so 3 axes is 120k xp, which takes around 1.25 hours to use them at willows)

but I know what you mean, it's better to use them on smithing. However, I like to get 85 woodcutting, and already have 85 smithing, so I'm using a few to get 85 woodcutting, since I'm getting 85 woodcutting anyway. (I'd rather play sc 1/2 of the time, then cut the other 1/2 of the time, than cutting the whole team). See it as playing a lil extra sc in stead of wc'ing. Not playing sc for tools, and then deciding it's going to be hatchets.

Well, see the problem with the Help and Advice forum is that everyone who answers is going to have a different opinion. We can only go so far as to state the solid facts and give what we would do, but ultimately it's up to the OP. I'm not sure what the OP's stats are but it's really up for him to decide.

You could look at this in 2 ways, you are right. One is SC is simply getting WC xp, but taking a break from WC. The other is playing SC for the tools, in which case smithing is a better option. So this all boils down to opinion and preference.

I got 22k xp/axe at teaks when I tried them there. :?

Can it be that far off?

It does depend on the tree: using your sc axe on teaks gets you less xp per axe. However, according to rs wikia, you should be getting 34k xp per axe at teaks. (and 40k xp at willows, have tested this and can confirm it).

The RS Wikia is wrong, I only get 33,294 xp per tool at willows.
