Herblore going profitable again?

Well seeing as the Wilderness is somewhat back I can see prices in potions starting to rise again.

Maybe a bit, but I don't think we will ever see the 10K super set again.

Ah! Those were the days............

I remember they could sell at 8k per set at a small profit or break-even. That would still be nice. unfortunately been stuck on 87 ever since

You know Herblore used to be profitable when restore potions were 42gp each or so if you added garlic 21gp to the potion you would get 25xp and the potion would become Guthix Balance Mix and then empty them for profit. :P

I realize this is not technically profit when you analyze it in terms of what I could sell stuff for or the cost of waiting around for herbs to grow, but I farm snaps and make super restores and at the end of the day I deposit more coins in the bank than when I started even after buying back all the costs such as the vials, the seeds, the supercompost, and seconds, AND I get both farm and herb xp, so I'm happy. I'll occasionally farm kwuarms too for the same effect to a lesser extent, but only if for some reason snap seeds/super restores/spider eggs are slow in selling or buying.

As long as there are skill capes, and as long as prestige comes with those skill capes, secondary skills will never be profitable. O.O Which is horrible and makes absolutely no sense if you think logically, but that's just the way it is. :(

by absolutely no sense i assume you mean perfect sense right? you're paying the money for the ability to wear the skill cape and the prestige that comes with it. people really need to stop leaving utility out of the equation

He's saying that if you make your own product, logically, you should be able to profit off it. If you have the level to make a potion, and someone who wants or needs that potion, who can't make it themselves, wants to buy it from you, you should profit a little.

This used to be the way herblore was until they got rid of unids. It was one of the largest mistakes Jagex made in my opinion. I got 90 herblore before the unid update, and I got it solely on sitting in seers bank for hours on end, switching worlds every so often, buying all unids for 1,000 gp each. On average I would profit 2-3k per unid, which would cover the cost of water vials and secondary ingredients, and still allow me to profit about 500-1,000 gp per potion. For my work finding the unids and risking getting low herbs, I was able to not only train my herblore, but also to profit a bit as well. I was ranked about 400 in herblore back then, and now because of the ge and the fact that people can see what herbs they get as drops before having the levels to ID them, it's easy to buy the high levels but at a hefty cost.

I just wish herblore was the way it used to be. It was fun then to an extent and now it's just another mindless buyable skill.

The ONLY way to ENSURE herblore ALWAYS profits would be to set up shops that well vials or water, all the herbs, and all the seconds at a fixed price and buys the potions for a fixed price that's higher. Since that sounds impossible or extremely unlikely for Jagex to add, I don't think Herby is coming back, although I hope it does.

I wish people would stop blaming skillcapes. >.<

Can it please? I wanna try for 99 herby if it does

Although I'd feel bad for all those who dished out 100m for it.

I sure as hell wouldn't, they rushed into it.

For as long as I can remember, even back in 2005 Secondary's were always a loss of profit, just not as much as nowdays.

Haha matteh is being harsh about rich people again :D

I think its silly that secondary skills aren't profitable anymore, but the only way to get it back how its should technically be is market manipulation by a team of elite herblorists...

I don't see it happening.

Oh, and DIY FTW
