I noticed this after logging on to my noob account which had no friends so i didn't know what to think. Just recently some random guy logs in on my friends list i had no memory adding so i look him up. noob stats ftl.

Most likely from lag around the ge when you click around the chat screen it adds random people who have talked recently.

I've noticed this. Always wondered why this was. Just thought it was the people I had bought my items from, seeing as how there is a mixture of offline/online added.

okay, so you think it is more likely that jagex is adding random people to your friends list than that you accidentally added them while using the buggy grand exchange interface.

As sees_all1 has already said, this is a frequent glitch you experience while being around/using the Grand Exchange.
