Tesset
So then, we're all going to Fort Locksmeed, including Archimage because he agreed not to split up, and he's not here to argue. I'll change my topic name to Tyler's party, and we can all post there. VEGHATERMEATLOVER
I'll be joining russo tommorow :twss:, do you have to be human? Can you have a pet. Also the animals around rusco, do they have to conform to be real animals or can you mix it up a bit?
Tesset
Yes, you must be human, because non-humans would likely be able to do something humans can't, and even if you balance it, the whole thing starts to become a little complex. No, a pet couldn't come through the portal if armor/weapons can't, just to keep it fair. No, the animals don't have to be real(Like my bear that chased me over the river...*sigh* Good times, good times...) My skin is finally getting softI'll scrub until the damn thing comes off

Can you make armour + weapons and also I might not join as Ive got bloody iPhone to sort out but hopefully I will. Oh and also we have to to in first person.. How do you speak to people?
Tesset
Well, if you read everyone else's posts, that should clear things up for you, however, here are the answers. You come through the portal with no useful armor/weapons, so you basically have cloth clothing and nothing else. You can make any armor/weapons you want, but they have to be out of the natural resources around. Try to keep it realistic, you probably can't kill a bear for it's fur with your bare hands. To speak to other people...Here's an example. However, I will request that you add ___ said, to signify who is talking. It took me five minutes to figure out this conversation. [hide=archimage_a said] "Hey Archimage!" *Groans* Ohhhhhh. *Creak of floorboards and matress springs* Great, what does he, ohhh, want *Yawns* now. *Sound of banging and rustling* *Heavy footfalls on the stairs* "This man is starving. Would you be so kind as to get him some food?" *Quiet* Looks like has been beaten as well...coincidence that you were the one that found him....I think not. *Doors opening* *Coughing* Darn it, the smell of smoke is still strong. *Doors banging shut and other smaller doors being flung open* Where are you.... *Crunch of silverware being swept out the way* Hmmm, nothing much in there, over here...No...Ah, there. *Loudly* I've got something. *Doors half opening* Damn, he'll need water to wake him up. *Doors closing* *More banging of metals followed by a water pump being pumped and water hitting a metal container* *Doors opening again* Here, I have something to wake him up. "Good idea" *Water being thrown and a gasp* "Is that food?" "Sure is, but first what were you doing here?" "Followed the map" "It's the same as our ones" Yes, you better let him recover before we question him. I'll get him a room key. "He could be anyone!" Exactly, no reason to jump to the conclusion that he is going to kill us in our sleep. "Its better to be safe..." Than to be dead. Yes, I know, but the point is that now that I have distracted you he has had the chance to eat something. Now, perhaps there is something you would like to tell us? OOC: The question is posed to Mr Kay. Also, this is an example of how to speak for other people:-Keep short and sensible answers which fit with the rest of their personality and to the general norm of things, and try to be as transparent as possible.[/hide] And talking to NPCs works like this, however if you join someone else, you have to get them to agree before you meet an NPC. [hide=archimage_a said]"Rag and Bone man! Rag and Bone man" I can hear him more "Rag and Bone man" clearly now. "Rag and Bone man, ah, do you have anything you wish to sell?" Of course. "I am sure we can come to some sort of an arrangement" Well I am afraid that I only have a couple of items on me at the moment, perhaps if you showed me back to the nearest town I could access my bank. "You have items at a bank but you don't know where the bank is?" Yes, would you believe I was rambling about out here and got lost. "Oh, well, on truth I stay away from the towns, had a bit of a .... with the sherifs daughter." Oh I see, well I shall not press you. "Very decent of you my good man." Not at all, now, would you happen to have any directions? "Well I have this map, and I can't help but notice that neckchain you are wearing." Ahh, I had a cousin, 'There is always a profit to be made, and if you don't... "Who will', quite right your cousin was, man after my own heart." Well its a family heirloom, had it since, ooo before we moved to the sys...town, that my great great grandfather lived in. "Well then, if it is sentimental...Two bars?" One! and not a bar more. *Pause* "You drive a hard bargain, sold." Thank you my man. *pause* "Was there anything else you wished to buy, sir?" Now that you mention it, I am wondering if there is a cooking set in their? Bowls and plates, maybe a knife... "For another bar?" Another bar. "Ahhh well I have just the thing, brought it from a Chinaman, its an omni-plate, can turn into anything you need on a table" Extraordinary! May I see it first? "Naturally" *pause* How do I, err? "Just say what you desire, mind you it only has a life of an hour or so." Hmmm, I am looking for something in a more permentant style. "Well if it is reliability you are after, a pewter cauldron and ladle, perfect for cooking anything." Now that is what I need, here you are my good man, one bar. "Thank you kindly sir, perhaps you could tell me what the bars do?" Ahh, nothing too much, but if you shine a light though them, say like this... "Good lord, its a rainbow! Leprechaun hunting gear!" A keen eye for all things, I see you have "Ahh it helps in a job like this, helps sort the [bleep] from the tat." And very well you do it too sir, but now I must take my leave. "Say, you are not a Noble Lord or something are you? Never known on of them to talk so civil." Oh by the Stars no, I used to be a squire is all, they are a nightmare lot I can tell you. "That explains it then, well sir I shall be on me way. And if you see another lost squire you just tell them to find ole Andy Mac." I will, and should you ever see Lord Arthur of Pendragon you tell him Merlin said hello. "Will do squire."[/hide] Remember, you probably aren't going to go through your portal and fall into other people. You'll probably be on your own for a while. VEGHATERMEATLOVER
what are the rules on magic for rusco?
archimage_a
I refer you to rule 9: 9. Magic is to be used sparingly....it does have limits you know...I remember one time that Hawks tried to use a levitation spell to jump ten feet off the ground...Laid up in bed for the rest of the day... Ruscovian magic is very limited because it is tied closely to Glyphary(which is a carry over from Rusco 1.0). Glyphary is basically symbols made is rock or air or metal which have particular significance to the natural order, thus allowed the natural order to be subverted. Similar to gravity and the laws of motion...Motion is Linear, it will only ever travel fowards in the direction it is heading unless it is hit by another object which would be a natural process...However gravity does not need to 'touch' the object to change its trajectory, so it appears to defy the laws of motion because there is no direct force being exerted...of course now we know that there is a direct force but that is only from deduction...as the saying goes 'Millions saw the apple fall but only Newton discovered gravity.' In simpler terms Glyphes are cheat codes to reality....basically. But using them is clunky...you would have to create a flame, oxygen to feed it, fuel to burn, motion for it to move, barriers to contain it...you couldn't just summon up a fire ball, you would have to go though all the stages of the fire ball, which would probably not give you the upper hand in a duel. However if you had two halves of a full glyph(all the glyphs together in a overlay pattern) on two stones that were able to fit together then you could cast that particular spell by touching those two half stones together...however it would need to then be focused, so you would need to make sure it was directional or area attack...you couldn't just fire it off. All of that said though Glyphs can only be used by those who are naturally gifted, and since most people arn't naturally gifted the practice was heavily regulated, thus you are unlikely to come across a book telling you how to do it...The only way to get it would be to come across an Ivory Tower, which you would not just find randomly...The only other place you might find it is in a blacksmiths, because you can learn how to use premade glyphs(no its not just putting the sides together, its the mental control to say 'Reality is what I make it' so on and so forth) and as a blacksmith buying one fireball glyph for twenty thousand Gold Peices would be better than buying tonnes of coal every month, even if it was only three Gold Peices a lump...especially if you wanted to establish a name for yourself, since fireballs don't contain impurities... Other professions have premade glyphs to purchase, but blacksmiths are the only ones who typically have them, as well as more varity, with air, water, fire, enchantment and the like glpyhs, as opposed to maybe a woodsman with a servering glyph(though a servering glyph sounds cool you have to be close to use it and is unpredictable when cutting down trees because it could fall anywhich way.) Anyway, the long and short of it is that magic is based on symbols which need to be learned and cannot be suddenly found. http://www.uzzisoft..../archimage.jpegWell I knew you wouldn't agree. VEGHATERMEATLOVER
oh, well i meant i learnt it before the teleportation to rusco.
archimage_a
Then it is completely useless unless the magic is imbued into something, though anything magically should have been destroyed/blocked when passing though the portal. Just like anything electrical, though some things get though. Refering to your story particularly...You might find diamond dust on your clothes which is still a little magical but you won't find anything major. http://www.uzzisoft..../archimage.jpegWell I knew you wouldn't agree. VEGHATERMEATLOVER
I was planning on trying to dig out a crystal somewhere later on in the story and then coming up with a funny story on how you enchant it. [hide=This is quite intresting]http://harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/House-elf_magic House-elves have their own brand of magic, as do many other magical creatures. Their magic allows them to perform tasks, such as Apparating, where wizards cannot.[1] More than just a mere housekeeper, a house-elf is a ruthless protector of the master, and will attack threats with great fury and strength. edit History When Harry Potter inherited Number 12 Grimmauld Place and Kreacher in 1996, Albus Dumbledore wanted to test to see if Harry had truly inherited his godfather's possessions. Harry was told to give Kreacher an order. At the time, the only thing he wanted was for Kreacher to shut up. He told him to do so, and instantly, Kreacher almost choked on his own words. To test the security around the locket Horcrux in the 1970s, Lord Voldemort required a House-elf for the job, and Regulus Black nominated Kreacher. After using Kreacher for his purposes, Voldemort left him there to die. Bound by the laws of his kind, Kreacher was able to Disapparate out of the cave and return to Regulus. In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Dobby protected Harry Potter by using his magic to throw Lucius Malfoy across the floor.[/hide] now, The above text doesn't mention that the elf's magic is diffrent to the humans magic and they do not require wands. there are many diffrent types of magic the elf can use. also the goblins say to hermoine that they wouldn't share there wandless magic with the humans as they don't share there magic with the goblins. Anyway thats very off-topic. Thanks about the help with the dust idea.

Tesset
Yes you are Hex, however, remember that all the people disappeared, so make it make sense. I have a question about magic. So, the magic from our previous worlds doesn't work anymore? Also, Archimage and Mr. Kay, are you able to use magic? archimage_a
Like everything it seems that the system has holes in. Magic from your prevouis realms may(at the writer's choice) work, but will, always, be a much weaker version. The same as technology. There is no reason why we would not be able to use magic, except perhaps closed minds. http://www.uzzisoft..../archimage.jpegWell I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts. Tesset
Ok. It really doesn't matter-I'm not a mage and my world can't cast magic without aid anyway, but I figured I would ask.
