In my opinion, faith is one of the greatest motivating forces in existence. Religion is not opposed to progress by nature, rather by interpretation. Catholicism has the largest following on Earth, and it seems to me that it promotes more old-fashioned styles of thinking. It might not help that the Popes are usually elderly, they will likely be a few decades behind the times on their own, and encouraged to continue in the path of their predecessors.

 

The three Abrahamic religions are mired down in history, going on morals and interpretation of teachings hundreds of years old. I myself am Christian, mostly because of my family and the fact that I know next to nothing of other religions. I intend for it to be a topic of study later in my life.

I think that religion is a necessary evil, as it motivates people. It gives people something to think in, something to believe.

 

Also, when I was younger, about 10 years or so ago, maybe more.. I remember reading a lot of novels about christian people recovering from cancer, because of their faith.

upon googling it, It seems taht there's something called faith healing.

I think that in cases like this, where religion is actually beneficial, I totally support it.

 

however, when religion is not beneficial, and is actually causing issues.. like delaying advances in science like stopping stem cell research [btw, I'm pretty sure that the scientists found stem cells in adult bone marrow, and don't need to use baby fetuses anymore, but i'm not 100% as i'm not a scientist], or when religion actually promotes people dieing.. like those cults where they try to make everyone suicide... or those other religions that make war... well.. I don't support that.

 

and of course, when religion does nothing at all, I don't really care one way or another. <_<

The second time I thought the server ENDED, being use to gmod. I still have what I took the second time thought, and I tried to give it back when halo informed me. That was when the server shut down.
