I don't really listen to music. Does that matter? Approx. price? How to find?

Doesn't matter if you don't like the music. It certainly helps, but I've been to plenty of shows where I didn't like the bands at all. If you don't like the music then you go for the atmosphere.

That's a lot cheaper than I thought they'd be. However, the closest ones are about an hour away from me and I'm not really comfortable driving that long, not to mention how it'll probably interfere with the 11 PM curfew I have because of my provisional license. Is there any way to find super-local ones? I know they're probably not as good, but it seems like a better starting point for me anyway.

Search the phone book for local venues. Or try googling music venues +wherever you live.
