Since we are evolutionarily driven to mate with the best mates (Best looking, most fit, etc.) by hitting on them it's really a compliment. But they don't get offended if you don't hit on them, which is like, "Even though I have a built-in sex drive, I don't make advances towards you because you are unappealing and I don't want to mate with you." Ex. Normally when my neighbor would poke at me, I'd just be like whatever, he'll go away eventually. But one night I turned around and said something along the lines of DO IT ONE MORE TIME AND YOU WILL LACK MAN PARTS.
