This painting is Olympia by Edouard Manet. I think its a remarkable piece of work, depicting a prostitute in a pose often used to depict Venus. Its a masterpiece of subtle irony, for when other artists correct nature by painting Venus they lie. Manet asked himself why he should lie. Why not tell the truth? What do you think /fg/?
