I've watched very little of it. But if what the Japanese fishing men are doing, legally fishing Whales then those guys are just a bunch of [wagon]. They might save a whale one day, but it's more than likely a fishing fleet will have got him by the end of the year.

Ramming boats? Do these [puncture]s not realise we're not all green peace hippies and some people actually have to go out and work hard jobs for their money? I hope the Japs react and kick their [wagon] tbh.

Well considering the fact that they are whaling an endangered species in the guise of "scientific research," I would go as far as to say that the harrassment they get is more than justified. The Japanese constantly use that false argument of scientific research even when there are methods of research into whales that don't involve killing them with an exploding harpoon and dragging them until they bleed to death. The Japanese even use aid money to buy support of nations within the International Whaling Commission. It isn't even like the Japanese people particularly support whaling, the sales of whale meat have dropped severely in recent years (scientific research my arse) but the main political parties continue to support whaling.

I'm not a "greenpeace hippie" but they are completely right in this debate. Japan (as well as the other pro-whaling nations) need to give it up as there is no need for commercial whaling.

I haven't seen an episode of it, but damn, the commercials look freakin sweet. When is the show again? Fridays at 9 on Animal Planet? Been trying to remember it so that if I have nothing better to do on a friday (and I usually don't, the loser that I am :ugeek: ) I can watch an epic show like Whale Wars.

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.

I've watched the show a few times and I must say, they've got some serious guts to take on the ships with only gas bombs? (I think that's what they have, correct?)

It's a good show. I always seem to miss when it's on though.

I think it's ridiculous. I mean it was interesting but seriously, the captain got thrown out of Greenpeace, they try to sabotage ships and pretend to get shot, after sending their crew members out to get kidnapped on purpose.

These guys are [puncture]s. The Japanese sailors are just trying to make money for their families.

The German death squads that got money for captured jews were 'just trying to make money for their families', too.

I don't really know much about the whole situation (I saw the entire first season, have the first episode of the second DVR'd currently), but it does appear that the Japanese are lying to the international community in order to get profits from whaling. Pretty bad.

your a moron, this is straight from wikipedia.

Paul Watson alleges he was shot by the Japanese crew or coast guard personnel during the campaign. The incident is heavily documented during the show in the final episode, and the first six episodes are covered as a buildup to what is portrayed as the major incident during the campaign.

The footage in Whale Wars shows Watson standing on the deck of the Steve Irwin while Sea Shepherd crew throws stink bombs made of glass bottles filled with butyric acid at the Nisshin Maru whaling vessel.[10] The Japanese respond by throwing flashbang devices. Watson is then shown reaching inside his jacket and bullet-proof vest and remarking "I've been hit." Back inside the bridge of the Steve Irwin, a metal fragment is found inside the vest.[11]

Reuters reported that the Australian Foreign Affairs Department had condemned the incident and that the Australian Embassy in Tokyo had been informed by the Japanese that the whalers had "fired warning shots" during the confrontation.[12] The BBC reported that the Japanese used the term "warning devices" and denied any shots were fired.[11] The Japanese later claimed that Watson staged the incident in an attempt to win public and government sympathy and approval for the Sea Shepherd campaign. Watson then attempted to refute these claims on the Sea Shepherd website.[13]

I'm sorry.....but are you seriously comparing what is essentially fishing to mass planned genocide?

They're the same excuse. Saying that 'they're just doing it for their families'. It wasn't intended that way but take it however you want.

You know, at first when they played the commercial I thought it was some sort of second The Deadliest Catch or something... then I thought I was on the Discovery Channel for a second... then it said "Whale Wars: only on Animal Planet" and I was like DAMNIT.

Even reality TV is sinking in documentary channels. But at least it has something relative to do with animals, unlike Axmen or Ice Road Truckers whom, apparently, has historical value in them. :wall:

The less reality TV shows the better. Drama shouldn't be part of a god damn documentary channel.
