my god this arguement gets old quick. EVERY post with a render, you can expert Nadril and Quer adding their 2 cents in. I think it's great that you stick up for your opinion, but you end up spamming everyone's topic. Just like you don't like renders, i'm not a huge fan of topics getting spammed. Also, it leads to people flaming each other, and just gets rediculous.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

i don't really like the sig because i've seen 100,000,000,000,000 other ones that look almost exactly like it. The creativity isn't there. i give it a 3/10, but keep trying, its a start 8)

usually those game renders on websites that provide them are just stolen images from wallpapers (created by the game/movie company for promotional purposes)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

or sometimes even screenshots.. (wich is not original art work that u create)

 

 

 

or even sometimes mods for games do the trick.. i beleive i seen my friend playing with some kind of mod for Unreal, he could go into game, snap a screenshot of any position anywhere..

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

as for thor... how do u know if the game dev. dont care.. you dont know them do you.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

by using renders ur simply giving thanks to people who steal other peoples art work, (3d models in a game is considered art) and if your one of those people who are selling sigs's/wallpapers for real/fake cash you are in violation of copyright infringement.

you people are complete morons. using a picture of a celebrity or a charcter from a game is NOT ripping. thats like saying if i take a picture of me playing counterstrike or halo and posting it is ripping. look at every single fan site out there and u will see normally the banner will have the celebrity or charcter the site has to do with is in it and it is not ripping. game developers dont care about it and if u look at places like bungie you will see poeple with charcters from halo in there avatars. its like saying neowin rips off the microsoft logo or skype or watever logo they have in their news. taking images from other websites or peoples personal art is wrong but taking pictures from games and celebritys is ok and you poeple just go WAY over the top with it. if nadril wasnt posting in every thread saying you STOLE that image then this thing wouldnt get carried away and by your theory even tip.it shouldnt be allowed up because guess what? they have the runescape logo as the splash page.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I think your taking the concept way too out of context. If your posting a screenshot your not posting it as artwork, your posting it to show something cool that happened/whatever.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A lot of sites have .zip's that have alowable images in them for use on other websites. Such things are fine to use for the sort.

A. They may just be default avatar's players can choose from a list.

Thing is, with signatures I usualy think of it as something to do out of curtousy rather than "its the law." I would like to think that if I or any of my friends were to ever work with such a job, doing image's for video games or the likes that people would be nice enough to keep the image as it's own.

Media is media, is this forum really doesnt want to get in trouble for people using "ripped" images from games and other mediums, then they should specifically post that. Sure no using stolen images, but when you stole an entire finished product [such as one from deviant-art], cut it, and post it as your own...then YES is it a stolen image and is technically "illegal".

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If I take my Halo2 game book, or my Battlefield2 Manual and scan the images, or take them from the game directories, I TECHNICALLY own those images since I bought it. And yes there are copyrights, and due to that my previous example would be illegal. But if you really look at the scope of things....

the person that creates those game graphics is just another indy artist like moste of us here so he is basicly the same only better.. however it seems to be ok to rip something from a good artist and not from a.. mediocre artist, seems odd to me?

ive said this before once but my uncle did the the cut-scene character graphics for Kill-Zone (its a game) and those graphics were used in the commercial.. and then in sigs.

 

 

 

well he got paid for the commercial and the game but not for the sigs! whats up with that :P
