Nenga
Then call the Ghost busters. But just go to a store and buy a bug bomb, leave it in your house and go do something out of the house for few hours. It's mostly identical to the flee bomb. If you have a cat or dog I reccommend you board them for the whole day. You don't want them licking objects that have been poisoned. We bombed the house four or five times already. It kills them alright, but not all of them. Enough are always left alive that they reproduce back to their old numbers pretty quickly. There's a reason why I said be persistent with it. My old house had a roach problem, when me and my mom moved out my dad started bombing it like crazy, and it worked. Ponies! Th3_Crusader
Did you turn over furniture? Another thing is what attracts them; food. Make sure you pick up your messes, their might be food stains that haven't been cleaned up? They'll probably live where the food is. So I'd maybe clean the shelves on you keep food on. Just POWER clean the house! EDIT; Don't forget too, they also like clean places, and warm. So wherever the warmest place in your house is, its probably your best bet. Napalm
Eww, cockroaches... I had the same problem, had to call the exterminator, never saw one again. I suggest you just do the same.
IGoddessI
Hi it seems to me that the pest control guy isn't very qualified. It would depend on what kind of roaches to the kind of chemical he is using. Sometimes they will even need to come back 2 or 3 times to stop the infestation. For example, German cockroaches are extremely hard to kill and cannot be killed using the same chemicals that are used for 'every day' cockroaches. You may even have to throw away the couch, or pay the guy to use something strong to spray that kills all of them in the nest. The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours. Dizzle229
The problem with roaches is that the bastards don't die. When I was little tried to capture a bunch and torture them in front of a few others. I said it was to "crush their will." Cliffnotes: Roaches do not work that way :wall: But yeah, exterminator is the best way to safely get rid of an infestation like you described, especially if bombing hasn't worked. Get back here so I can rub your butt.
IGoddessI
The product name is "Fenthion Dust" (Fenthion being the active constituent) for the little bastards that don't die (roaches like German cockroaches). It depends which type of roach species is in your couch as to whether roach bombing will be a waste of time or not. 22pepsi22
Your aunt is obviously a Roach Warlord. Either submit to the will that is Roach or grab that heavy mace and get to it. Or... exterminator. But that's not as much fun. :| Edit- Get rid of the couch if you still have it. Which I don't believe you do.
handman003
Yeah, we've already gotten rid of the recliner (was more of a chair than a couch) but the roaches (they're German btw, for those wondering) had already moved to the rest of the house by that time. Right now I've been cleaning the house every day. It's cleaner now than it has been in the past three or so years, and I still have four rooms to go. I'm even making sure all the dishes get washed before I go to bed. I'm also saving my money to put toward an exterminator, since the parents don't seem to have any will to spend their money on one. Yeah I thought it was German cockroaches, those things are terrible to get rid of. Normal spray & baits don't work, it needs a much more toxic chemical than that as well as repeated visits to get the last of them. If you do get the money for a pest control guy read my post about what kind of chemical to use to get rid of them. Best of luck! handman003
Seems a bit silly that you should have to do it, when can you move out? :P See, I don't want to move out (though I could move in with my dad now if I really wanted to). My mom and stepdad do a good job taking care of me, it's just that they don't prioritize things in any sort of logical order. (i.e. they bought a 42" HD television when they could've hired an exterminator, fixed our lawn mower [our grass is 4-5 ft tall in places because we can't mow it], gotten me and my brother much needed dental attention, etc.) OT: I also have no steady source of income, so this could take a while.
